I'm sure you're more informed on America than anyone here, but I have different theories. California and New York do have a higher number of immigrants from Asia and that explains California, but New York is VERY densely populated and the vast majority of people are dependent on public transit. As communicable as this disease is, subways, buses, and taxis are germ magnets. Stair rails also. New Orleans and Miami were caused by idiots who are bulletproof and want to party on Miami beaches and Mardi Gras celebrations. They spread it and gave it to everybody else.brian ross wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 10:55 pmCorrelation does not create causation, Black Orchid.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 7:43 pmAnd the worst hit areas in the US are the areas where their idiot DemiCom leaders told them to go out and enjoy themselves in Chinatown and to go out and have fun for Chinese New Year in amongst the huge crowds.
Whereas most other areas in the US have a very low infection rate because they are sensible and don't have a DemiCom leader.
There could be several other factors causing low or high infection rates.
The States with the highest infection rates have a high Chinese population. They also have a higher than normal traveling population which goes overseas. The states with lower infection rates might have the reverse of those two factors. Americans are notoriously insular and the majority rarely travel overseas unlike Australia which has approximately a quarter of its population overseas at any one time. What tells against it just being the cause of only Democrat governments is that most of the eastern seaboard which is not exclusively Democrat controlled has high infection rates. What suggests causes high infection rates is because the Americans have a shit health care systems and the poor are unlikely to use it for what amounts for most people as a mild flu. As it is nigh on impossible for the majority of Americans to obey government directions for most things it isn't surprising they aren't practising social distancing.

That may be the case but none of what you mention has to do with there being Democrat governments in control of the states. The urban transit could be a vector. It all depends upon how community transmission occurs. I was more interested in how it starts and from who it starts, Tex. Overseas travel is the main factor. Some Asian Americans got it directly from the source, Wuhan. That would explain California and Washington State. On the eastern coast they more than likely got it from Europe and brought it home with them. What is your opinion about Americans obeying Government dictates on social distancing and movement? Are they likely to do so?Texan wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 2:28 amI'm sure you're more informed on America than anyone here, but I have different theories. Gee, I'm no doctor, nor do I play one on the internet.brian ross wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 3:21 pmMy comments were general. Now, if Americans are practising social distancing why has COVID-19 become so prevalent in New York city and Los Angeles and "spring break" crowds appeared on the beaches of Florida recently? Mmmm? Was it 'cause of the Democrat Governments? Really? Gosh. Might be something in what Black Orchid says, hey? Bullshit.
But offhand, I would observe that these are major cities where people live, work and walk in crowded spaces. And how do you think many of them get to work? That's right -- in New York's case, they travel in a subway! They also have large homeless populations, many of whom live and perform bodily functions on the sidewalk.
Not exactly a showplace for sterile conditions and social distancing.
And since we're not seeing the same per capita level of outbreak in less populated areas, then by golly, maybe there's something to the theory that big, dirty, crowded cities are petri dishes for coronavirus!
As for spring break in Florida, didn't you ever do anything stupid when you were young?

And of course the Subway's existence is due to the Democrats, 4E?

Of course it didn't help that the Democratic Mayor and Democratic Governor told the people of New York to ignore the Federal recommendations and to keep using the subway and to go out and make whoopee with the masses to celebrate Chinese New Year.The4thEstate wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 3:03 pmGee, I'm no doctor, nor do I play one on the internet.

.......... DONALD Trump has clashed with a reporter - working for a news outlet linked to China's Communist regime - after she asked him if he was "co-operating" with Beijing.
The President confronted the journalist at a White House coronavirus briefing after she began listing medical supplies China had dispatched to help the US as it battles Covid-19. ...............

my own personal opinion of amerikas handling of this pandemic..
its one big balls up...

the States all want to run their own agendas whilst pointing at the Fed to blame for everything...
