California and New York do have a higher number of immigrants from Asia and that explains California, but New York is VERY densely populated and the vast majority of people are dependent on public transit. New Orleans and Miami were caused by idiots who are bulletproof and want to party on Miami beaches and Mardi Gras celebrations. They spread it and gave it to everybody else.

That may be the case but none of what you mention has to do with there being Democrat governments in control of the states. The urban transit could be a vector. It all depends upon how community transmission occurs. I was more interested in how it starts and from who it starts, Tex. Overseas travel is the main factor. Some Asian Americans got it directly from the source, Wuhan. That would explain California and Washington State. On the eastern coast they more than likely got it from Europe and brought it home with them. What is your opinion about Americans obeying Government dictates on social distancing and movement? Are they likely to do so?

But offhand, I would observe that these are major cities where people live, work and walk in crowded spaces. And how do you think many of them get to work? That's right -- in New York's case, they travel in a subway! They also have large homeless populations, many of whom live and perform bodily functions on the sidewalk.

Not exactly a showplace for sterile conditions and social distancing.

And since we're not seeing the same per capita level of outbreak in less populated areas, then by golly, maybe there's something to the theory that big, dirty, crowded cities are petri dishes for coronavirus!

Of course it didn't help that the Democratic Mayor and Democratic Governor told the people of New York to ignore the Federal recommendations and to keep using the subway and to go out and make whoopee with the masses to celebrate Chinese New Year.
