Were ANY of the above authors around back in 1770 when Joseph Banks actually SAW the "natives" for the very first time and recorded that in his own handwriting in his Journal? Read The Journal, that is a REAL first hand knowledge of what they were like when they were first seen in their natural habitat. There are sketches of them and how they were living too. You should have a read of it at the site I listed. :thumb

Banks did not travel to SW Victoria.

Banks' vision was limited to what he could see from Cook's ship.

Banks' knowledge was limited to what he could see.

Do not assume that what Banks saw was necessarily what all Indigenous Australians were capable of or doing.

All you're displaying is your Racism, Neferti. Later historical and archaeological findings indicate that not all Indigenous Australians were nomadic. :roll:

The axe is one of only two existing examples of pre-European hafted axes from the Sydney region. The other axe is now in the Cambridge University Archaeology and Anthropology Museum in England.

only two seriously only two....yet they travelled far and wide over this land.....and many hunters have b een out there ever since......

yet only two?.....is that string really it doesnt look like reed to me....and the so called Axe doesnt look as if its been used..

I recall seeing something on TV about the "discovery" (in Victoria?) of so-called remnants of aboriginal "houses" ... a neat stack of small rocks. :rofl

It was probably Windshuttle's "aboriginal history" on Your ABC. He did something about the so-called "stolen generation" as well, if I remember correctly. :rofl

Read Joseph Banks' Journal. There was something on Foxtel recently about Cook's Journey back in the 1770's. They went to New Zealand before Australia. The Maori there were far more advanced than the aboriginals.

It was on the History Channel and called The Pacific: In The Wake of Captain Cook with Sam Neill Here is the trailer on You Tube.
