Australian have long held the idea that all Indigenous Australians were simple hunter-gatherers. It enabled them to more easily dispossess them of the land and take it for themselves. Appears that myth has been destroyed at last - Rethinking Indigenous Australia's agricultural past

Speaking of Windschuttle, as I don't doubt some people here will, here is a copy of James Boyce's (author of the acclaimed book, "Van Dieman's Land") Quadrant Article which PP McGuinness then editor refused to publish which demolishes Windschuttle rather well. It is well worth reading

Aboriginal Village

Vic bushfires uncover ancient Aboriginal stone houses

Indigenous owners hope ancient eel traps will be recognised as world heritage

There is plenty of evidence that the Indigenous Australians were a varied lot, with simply nomadic lifestyles in the centre of Australia to more settled existence around the periphery.
Brian,

Were ANY of the above authors around back in 1770 when Joseph Banks actually SAW the "natives" for the very first time and recorded that in his own handwriting in his Journal? Read The Journal, that is a REAL first hand knowledge of what they were like when they were first seen in their natural habitat. There are sketches of them and how they were living too. You should have a read of it at the site I listed. :thumb

Banks did not travel to SW Victoria.

Banks' vision was limited to what he could see from Cook's ship.

Banks' knowledge was limited to what he could see.

Do not assume that what Banks saw was necessarily what all Indigenous Australians were capable of or doing.

All you're displaying is your Racism, Neferti. Later historical and archaeological findings indicate that not all Indigenous Australians were nomadic.

The myths are flying fast and hard

The simple fact is that Australian aborigines were PRE-STONE AGE.
They had not even worked out how to lash rocks to sticks.

There was no agriculture

There was no centralised government

There was no written language

They didn't even build structures larger than lean tos

But myths abound
Aquaculture on a massive scale.
One stone age axe found, without the stick, just a rock.
Agricultural expertise
Cities and towns

All lies, fabrications, designed to prop up the abbos ego
Tell the truth
They were pre-stone age, nomadic, primitives.

Nothing wrong with that, it's the truth.

Convenient find wasn't it
But why only two?

Why were none seen used by the abbos?

Where are the thousands that should be around?

Why were spears not tipped as with every other stone age culture?

And the twine holding your example looks somewhat unusual.

Functionally that example woukd be virtually useless, the handle is too week for the size of the head, it just woukd not function for very long
Sorry bwyannnnnn
one or two convenient finds with no other evidence is not fact.

I recall seeing something on TV about the "discovery" (in Victoria?) of so-called remnants of aboriginal "houses" ... a neat stack of small rocks. :rofl

It was probably Windshuttle's "aboriginal history" on Your ABC. He did something about the so-called "stolen generation" as well, if I remember correctly. :rofl

Read Joseph Banks' Journal. There was something on Foxtel recently about Cook's Journey back in the 1770's. They went to New Zealand before Australia. The Maori there were far more advanced than the aboriginals.

It was on the History Channel and called The Pacific: In The Wake of Captain Cook with Sam Neill Here is the trailer on You Tube.
