Do you embrace it in totality?

I don't know it in totality. Obviously the 'cutting edge' of any field is going to involve 'questionable' theories.

Do you reject economic theory?

So why do you reject the economic consensus on pricing mechanisms for greenhouse emissions? It's pretty basic stuff. Why are you so dismissive of people who understand economic theory?

I don't reject the pricing mechanisms. I reject adopting them unilaterally
Why are you so dismissive of people who understand economic theory?
I am dismissive of those that purport to understand economic theory while applying it to another questionable theory.

You mean an ETS is the worst option available and a carbon tax is the next worse option.

Would you mind clarifying what you meant by this? It's from page one of this thread.

I meant that neither one will make a difference to the environment while both will be detrimental to our economy.

Are your 20 questions up yet? Do I win a prize?

When you trade your emissions who gets them?

Solomon, under Kyoto, if you don't meet your emissions target, you have to approach a country that has exceeded it's target and negotiate with them to 'buy' their leftover entitlement.

I meant that neither one will make a difference to the environment while both will be detrimental to our economy.

IQ, do you think this is somehow in agreeance with the economic consensus on the issue? Can you give an example of an option that will make more difference to the environment and do less damage to the economy?

Yes- wait until the large emitters are ready to adopt a trading scheme.
