As someone with experience in property, what signs would you look for tell you that the market had probably bottomed, prices probably weren't going any lower and that it might now be a good time to buy?

But some relatives who earn much more than we do have just informed us that they are selling their investment property because the financial burden is becoming too much. As I have always thought, it really has been allowed to become much to expensive for people of ordinary means to afford a house with a prudent and sensible level of debt repayment.

Ahh ok. When you get back .. I would love to hear a bit more about this.

It will be very beneficial for us to look at why an investment property doesn't always work out.

I forgot to ask .. was the property in question in NSW? Land tax is an issue for us here .. unfortunately. I should know as I pay heaps of it each year on all my properties

In case you've not yet realised .. I'm really passionate about property. Even so .. in all fairness to IQ (who as we all know, consistently chooses to be an abrasive, crude and rude individual on here for some unknown reason), this is his topic and he does know quite a bit about the property market also (I've tested him out a few times and he knows enough even by my high standards of excellence and perfection lol).

It would be lovely if we could all jump in here and post in good faith.

There's so much to learn and discover if we share what we know (however little that may be).

Hmmm .. IQ's been a tad quiet since I posted this. Not sure why. Ahh well .. in any event, if anyone cares to look back, IQ and I had a great discussion on property earlier on in this topic ( when he was a tad nice n normal ).

If she was into, and so experienced, with what she claims to be her specialty and occupation, she could have punched out an answer off the top of her head.

Nahh .. it's just a part time hobby as far as I am concerned.

But you said you're into property, specialise in it, and are required to be online or oncall 24/7 supposedly because it is your occupation ... now its just a hobby ... make up yer mind dingbat.

My family and friends reckon it's my "other" occupation though. Not sure why.
