What's the attraction of Finland besides the mosquito?
It's supposed to be the best vantage point (early next year) for the next 11 years. Mosquitoes aren't a problem in winter.

Novaya Zemlya is better, much colder too and many polar bears but you don't want to get too close to them when they are hungry.

Kayaking looks amazing and I said to hubby when we finally tick Antartica cruise off the wish list… we can do that kayaking… he says no way he’s doing it as he’s worried about tipping over in water!
It looks okay from photos I look at.
Close up with seals etc
I have Sit-On-Top kayak if you plan to use traditional Sit-In you better practice Eskimo roll somewhere safe first.

I might stick with Finland lol. It's my son's idea so we'll see what happens.

He and I are off to Canada in a few days. We're spending Christmas in Banff which is very quaint and also very very cold. No polar bears though.

Oh wow! I’ve been there! It’s a beautiful spot… it was daylight until about 11 pm when we went in April/May 2016
We did spot a brown bear coming to eat dandelions near side of road after its hibernation.
There’s fencing all along road for the bears protection from traffic on road, and overhead passes for them!
Funny thing… when we went there was political debates for presidency between Trump and Hilary…
