Hi Tallo -the losses are all top secret but anyway -

Few independent sources agree on 1 to 10 ratio Ru to UA, I have posted links and explanation how it is counted on ozpolitic.

Tanks have been destroyed on both sides and many soldiers have died.
It's sickening.

That wasn't a tank but armored infantry transport, reported AFU casualty was14 soldiers, 2 stayed alive by dropping weapons and giving themselves up.

and yes, war is hell.

Russia is heavily influenced by the cheap mass production style (as is India) of outnumbering your opponent. Rarely in Russian war history is it, that a lesser number of Russians beating the enemy. Pavlov's 29 is a good movie to watch regarding this.
Russia got the territory it wanted from Finland, but it paid a far heavier price than the Fins to achieve it.
Again, it adopts the same tactics against Ukraine: life is cheap.
Thus Russia is just throwing it's dated stuff against Ukraine.
Sensible in a way, if your soldiers are many and expendable.

Drones and hand held rocket launchers have shown how near obsolete Tanks and other such machines are as effective.
Both World Ward had Artillery bombardment as the majority, with tank and soldier confrontations much less so.

Modern Military has become afraid of hand to hand combat literally. Soldiers now dig their graves and hide from the 'Machines', but now even that compromises them. For Drones can even reach them, no matter where they hide and now that dark of night reveals them just as much as day.
Terminators will rise: Man v Machine.

Did you see much close combat in Iraq war?
USA basically used 90% air and artillery attack while infantry just cleaned up the slops.

That is Russian tactics now and result is 1 Russian for 10 opponents (Ukrainians and foreign mercs), learning fast = better survival.

Well Tllwd. It is ex Soviet v ex Soviet afterall. Maybe Ukraine treats it's troops the same way? Maybe Russia just has a superior bombardment aspect.
I do know that the majority of Russian troops are not fully equipped, while some like Wagner, are exceptionally equipped. From what I saw during my thankfully short stay (for work). Ukrainians are well equipped with the modern gimmicks. But I was nowhere near the front lines, where it might be a different story. Though I was told often, that they too had the latest bells and whistles. This contradicted the fact that I was often told also that the Soldiers were in short supply of everything, even soldiers. The poverty there is incredible. Men return back from the front for leave and well, the abuse on their women is disgusting. Savages fighting savages. That's what the war is there.
