I usually make my own pies with the only pre-prepared bit being the puff pastry for the top (have you ever tried to make your own puff pastry? I mean, making your own shortcrust pastry is dead easy, but making your own puff pastry is almost setting yourself up for failure). My usual filling is curried beef, more often or not chuck steak, cooked until it is tender.

No - I just buy them pre-made.
It's easy - 7 minutes on de-frost in the microwave and 22 minutes in the oven.

Which is more or less what I do with the ones I buy from the butcher, but sometimes it's more fun doing it from scratch.

I suppose I could buy apple pies as well, but I always do them myself. My shortcrust pastry is a bit more crumbly than what you buy from the shops, but I think it's nicer that way.
