Anyway, damn cats aside, I think an English Staffordshire Bull Terrier will be an excellent breed of dog. Preferably a cross, say with Jack Russell terrier.

Terriers have a bit of deviltry in them, you have to be on your toes. Not sure what sort of dog clubs are around down there.
