Victoria records 221 COVID cases as
state edges closer to vaccination target
Posted 17m ago
Victoria has recorded 221 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases.
Contact tracers have been able to link 98 of those cases to existing outbreaks.
The cases were among 42,429 test results processed on Tuesday, when 36,716 vaccine doses were delivered at state-run sites.
There are more than 950 venues listed as exposure sites across the state, including the waiting room of the emergency department of the Alfred Hospital.
Authorities have listed the waiting room as a tier 1 exposure site for September 6 between 5:37pm and 11:15pm after a person with COVID-19 was present.
An Alfred Health spokesperson said emergency department staff were working in PPE and no staff had been furloughed as a result of the exposure.
The Victorian government has committed to a slight easing of restrictions once 70 per cent of Victorians aged 16 years or older have had at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.
That sits at 61.6 per cent, based on the Tuesday update from the federal Department of Health.
More to come.

The jews have been allowed to get away with a lot over the years,
Screaming holocaust and discrimination gave them many privileges.
But there are so many minority groups claiming victim status these days they no longer have a get of gaol free card any more.
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

Victoria has recorded 324 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 as doctors call for more Pfizer doses to be urgently allocated in Melbourne's north.
Key points:
Health department projections show 800 people could be hospitalised by mid-October
There are 2,166 active cases of COVID-19 in Victoria
Concern is growing about Delta spreading in Melbourne's north, including areas with the lowest vaccination rates
Of today's new cases, 107 have been linked to existing outbreaks and cases by contact tracers, while the rest remain a mystery.
The new cases were detected from 54,242 test results processed on Wednesday.
More than 60 per cent of the 221 new cases recorded on Tuesday were linked to Melbourne's northern suburbs.
Yesterday Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton urged people in Melbourne's north, particularly permitted workers moving around for work, to be "super vigilant".
