Victoria has recorded 76 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases, as health officials consider the restrictions that will remain when lockdown is extended on Thursday.
Key points:

Authorities are yet to reveal how many of the new cases were quarantined while infectious
Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton has hinted an easing in regional Victoria may be possible as the Shepparton outbreak comes under control
There are now more than 1,000 exposure sites across Victoria

Contact tracers have linked 45 of the new cases to existing outbreaks.

Health authorities say the number of cases who were in quarantine while infectious will be revealed later.

The state processed 50,848 test results on Monday, when 32,162 vaccine doses were delivered at state-run sites.

There are more than 1,000 exposure sites across Victoria, with a construction site at Fishermans Bend and several apartment buildings in Melbourne among recent additions.

Victoria has recorded 176 new locally acquired COVID-19 infections, a day after the Premier conceded driving the state's Delta outbreak down to zero was no longer possible.

Contact tracers have linked 83 of the new cases to existing outbreaks.

Health authorities say more information will be provided later about the number of cases who were in quarantine while infectious.

The state processed 48,372 test results on Wednesday, when state-run clinics administered 33,720 doses of vaccine.

On Wednesday, Premier Daniel Andrews said Victorians could no longer "hold out hope" of stamping out the Delta outbreak, and must instead limit the growth of cases while the community urgently vaccinates itself.

More to come.

Victoria has recorded 183 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 as the state pushes to get vaccination rates ahead of a rapidly growing outbreak.

Of the new infections, 101 have been so far linked to known cases.

The state has stopped providing detail on how many people were in the community while infectious as contact tracers deal with hundreds of new cases.

It brings the total number of active cases in the state to 1,417.

The new local cases were found from 48,487 test results processed on Saturday.

Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton yesterday said the state had "held a tsunami of cases back for 20 months".

"We've got maybe the biggest challenge that we've ever faced," he said.

"But we've also got a proper pathway out of here with vaccination, so hold the line in these last weeks and months, until we get the high vaccination coverage."

Victoria records 246 COVID cases
as regional restrictions may be set to ease

Victoria has recorded 246 new cases of COVID-19 as the state races to vaccinate people to curb the spread of its Delta outbreak.

Contact tracers have so far linked 121 of the new cases to existing outbreaks, but the number of cases who were in the community while infectious is no longer being reported each day.

The new cases resulted from 42,258 test results processed on Sunday, when 29,955 vaccine doses were delivered at state-run sites.

Last week the Victorian government shifted away from trying to reach zero cases of coronavirus in the community, and is instead focusing on keeping case numbers as low as possible while getting people vaccinated.

Premier Daniel Andrews has flagged that restrictions may ease this week in regional areas that have seen very few or no cases during this outbreak.

More than 60 per cent of Victorians aged 16 and above have now had at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.

Once 70 per cent of eligible people have had at least one vaccine dose, the government has flagged a minor easing of restrictions for Melbourne residents.

More to come.

Victoria is cranking up the numbers faster than NSW.

My bet is that it will soon be higher.

I hope not.

I'm fed up with the lockdown which is only suppressing the virus not eliminating it.

Victoria records 246 local COVID-19 cases as
pace of vaccinations accelerates

Victoria has recorded 246 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19.

Contact tracers have so far linked 90 of the cases to existing outbreaks, but the number of those people who were in the community while infectious is no longer being reported each day.

The cases were detected from 43,858 test results processed on Monday, when 32,300 doses of vaccine were delivered at state-run sites.

On Monday, Health Minister Martin Foley said the state was "a little bit ahead" of schedule to reach its goal of 70 per cent of people aged over 16 having a first COVID-19 vaccine dose by September 23.

Meeting that goal would result in some slight easing of restrictions, including an expansion of the 5-kilometre travel limit to 10 km and three hours of outdoor exercise each day.

The state government has also flagged a potential earlier easing of restrictions in regional areas.

More to come.

Melbourne worshippers WILL be fined after

Worshippers who gathered near a synagogue in Melbourne’s southeast in apparent breach of COVID-19 lockdown rules have had their details taken and will be fined by police.

People were spotted entering a building, believed to be a prayer room, near a Ripponlea synagogue early on Tuesday morning to mark the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah.

On Thursday afternoon, officers surrounded both front and back entrances of the building, where an Orthodox Jewish group was suspected to be congregating upstairs.

The stand-off ended just after 8pm, with several people filing outside as a group of worshippers who were loitering outside became aggressive.

A cameraman was pushed and the group briefly chanted and clapped in the alleyway, with police taking details before moving them on.

“All adults who attended will be issued with a $5452 fine.
A number of children who were present will not be fined,” a Victoria Police spokesman said in a statement.

“Investigators believe a number of other people were present and are yet to be spoken to by police. Investigators are working to identify them.”

One woman told 7NEWS she saw at least “50, maybe 100 people walking, dressed very formally down the streets here in the area”.

“I think it’s putting the community and our state in danger,” she said.

What sort of moron comes up with these fines?

$5452.00? why not $5500.00 or $5000.00?

Or is it simply that some twisted little worthless public servant has so pathetic a life that he or she likes to put stupid numbers together?

Who knows? - it's a vicious fine.
We are all liable to get such a fine just for being more than 5km from home.
I am really fed up with the lockdown now.
The question is -
why do large groups in the Jewish community think that the law doesn't apply to them?
