Fish sauce

Post by Gordon » Sat May 30, 2020 5:47 pm

Redman.

It's made in barrels with salt so it's obviously VERY salty so don't add extra salt.

Any supermarket brand should be fine, Thai or Viet.
Go really easy until you work out how it effects the taste and surprisingly it doesn't make food taste fishy but adds depth and you can put a teaspoon in a stew or even a spag bol.

In once rode my motorbike thru the biggest fish sauce production town in Viet. If I was blind I'd have shouted HELLO LADIES

Hi guys

Are any of you experienced in using Fish Sauce in your cooking?

If you do what brand?

A couple of brands supposedly very good are Red Boat and 3 Crabs

Your thoughts?

Yes cods the two I mentioned mostly are bought from Asian food shops, another one mentioned is Squid Brand which apparently is very strong.

------

During my research I actually found out the common Worcestershire Sauce is a type of fish sauce flavoured with anchovies, that was news to me.

.
As mentioned above Red Boat and 3 Crabs seem to get a lot of mention online.
