Nothing substantial to say then, 4E? :roll :roll :roll
Well, let's examine what you consider "substantial."

I know most of the academics who study this stuff. None of the serious ones are worried in the slightest. China can threaten the US Navy in the Western Pacific. It cannot threaten Australia.
Apparently that sentiment is not as universal as you contend, according to this November 2019 story:
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/28/worl ... -zhao.html
Fears of Chinese interference once seemed to hover indistinctly over Australia. Now, Beijing’s political ambitions, and the espionage operations that further them, suddenly feel local, concrete and ever-present.

“It’s become the inescapable issue,” said Hugh White, a former intelligence official who teaches strategic studies at the Australian National University. “We’ve underestimated how quickly China’s power has grown along with its ambition to use that power.”

American officials often describe Australia as a test case, the ally close enough to Beijing to see what could be coming for others.

In public and in private, they’ve pushed Australia’s leaders to confront China more directly — pressure that may only grow after President Trump signed legislation to impose sanctions on Chinese and Hong Kong officials over human rights abuses in Hong Kong ...

Bumping the last substantial post.

One does not equal many, 4E. Hugh White is a non-entity. He is not amongst the senior ranks of academia. Get back when you've found someone senior... :roll :roll
Guess yer juss too old to care no more!
Oh, I care. I'm just more subtle about it. :roll
Good on you!

Who cares what the oldies think? The newer intellectuals have a voice... it is you who will not listen.

Hey, at least my source mentioned a name.

On second thought, why bother researching anything? Maybe I should starts composing posts with the same level of specificity as yours. OK, everybody, here goes my counterargument:

Actually, I know twice as many Australian academics as you do, all of whom have more degrees than a thermometer. And every single one of them vehemently disagrees with you.

(Dang, these posts sure come together faster when you don't have to include a single documented fact!)
