We have self defense covered in Texas, and it's perfectly legal. Of course, you have to be careful with it or you'll be in a world of trouble.

My feeling is that the human race is degenerating and decaying year by year.
When I walk through the mall and I see men/women with tattoos all over their bodies...
..when I see men/women with metallic body piercings in their noses, their chins, their
ears, their eyebrows...when I see ludicrous haircuts and behaviour patterns in public..
...when I see parents in public totally unable to control young children....
….when I hear the vile language that people use in public to one another, I can only ask...
…..how can people respect each other when you look and sound like that....
Some women dress like sluts and then complain when someone looks at them...
Some women will drink their male companions under the table and then go and
take a slash in public out in the street....and complain when they are arrested.
Some men will viciously assault their partners just because they can..and then
blame some obscure reason for doing so.....
People have no respect for one another....
I don't have to wonder why 80% of Police callouts these days are domestic violence
issues....
People cant live with one another...
And unfortunately, a large percentage of the young people of today are sadly
attempting to struggle through life with no brains and no guidance....as their
parents have no brains...….
And they then live together, have kids...and the cycle continues...….
Im 72...Ive lived in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, the Gold Coast, The Central Coast...
and Ive seen it all....and its getting worse.....
People need re-educating....but it wont happen.....
Some children do as they please... some adults do as they please....
We can blame the stress of modern day life and an inability to cope all we like...
I am tending to think it just comes down to a lack of brains.....

As for your "solution", I'm afraid that it doesn't work as it's been tried already, at the risk of sounding like a broken record. Kids are taught very basic common sense and manners from kindegarten and upwards... they are also taught not be bullies, to treat others with respect, etc. Despite these "teachings", many children still go on to become bullies. Perhaps this behaviour from childhood is what leads to future domestic violence? Regardless, a simple education in the classroom will not deter scum from acting like scum. You seem to think criminals are these poor, misunderstood, naive folk who simply need a seminar on how to treat people the right way?

I'm not sure what "separating genders" can do to deter domestic violence, or why you believe that it's my solution.
Domestic violence encompasses all genders and "sexual orientations". We mostly hear about men abusing women, but the roles can be reversed. Poofters and lesbians can be abusive/or be abused as well.

The truth of the matter is, none of it is right. As long as we have a weak justice system that allows this to happen, it will only get worse.

Boredom is one reason. Jealously is another.
Needing an outlet, that is seemingly absent to them, is the key to understanding this issue.

Lets assume that all humans need an outlet, or even a number of outlets as a part of the self-actualization process.
The questions then become: What are the qualities of a positive outlet? Do outlets, with such qualities exist? If, yes, why is society not accessing them consistently?

Then, overlaying this, as you have alluded, Reboot, are the teething issues of a newly emerging globalized world, tethered economically and technologically, but not yet culturally bound.

Even a greater commitment requires you to join the full time Defence forces. All to a lesser or greater extent provide an outlet to channel (and control) your aggressive tendency, Nom. $500K is to be used for 200 personal safety devices that would use GPS trackers worn by a perpetrator to warn high-risk survivors and their families if their abuser is nearby.
My maths suggest that each of these GPS trackers will cost $2500 ($500,000 divided by 200)
200 ankle bracelets plus a GPS tracker for each one fails miserably....
Plus two grand to be given to women to help them leave an abusive relationship...that's not solving
the problem...its another band aid.....

However the QLD grubberment has been throwing money at domestic violence since as far back as 2012, if not further....
The QLNP are also planning to introduce a new offence apparently...
The new laws would include an Australian first “coercive control” law that would make it illegal for someone to feel controlled, dependent, isolated or scared.....and irrespective of the maximum penalty for this new offence...if weak gutted magistrates
just give someone a slap on the wrist....whats the point of a new offence...
The legal system needs a total shakeup...rehabilitation and soft sentencing has to stop...
Mandatory sentencing needs to be introduced for breaches of domestic violence orders and offenders have to be
arrested rather than given a notice to appear.....but what would I know...…
How easy will it be for someone to call the Police and say...Im scared/Im isolated...does that permit the Police to
arrest the offender and bring them before the court...the mind boggles....
