Well, I can only speak for myself and my issues with Brian.

I agree but I believe that religious intolerance is just one part of the problem. That only describes those motivated by religious belief, Nom. There are others who are motivated by their fear that what White colonists did to the Indigenous Australians could be done to them and hence by Xenophobia. It is harking back to the old days of the "Yellow Peril" (indeed that is one of the key motivations for Pauline Hanson's Xenophobia). This is a mounting and a serious problem within Australian society IMO. One we should be aware of and fight against.

I worked with several people who were Muslims and the only time that came up was at Ramadan when one female co-worker mentioned that she didn't eat during the day ... forgotten why but somebody's morning tea or something. She did NOT wear a "scarf", she wore normal clothes that were fashionable at the time (1990s). She was born in Australia.

Another male co-worker (different Department) was Muslim too (no beard) and his wife did NOT wear a "scarf" and wore normal clothes, both were Architects. He did go to the Mosque daily and 5 times on Friday or whatever it is but they were normal immigrants who spoke excellent English and wanted to be Aussies and have their children raised as Aussies.

So what's the "scarf" all about?
