Okay Brian

Okay Brian
Well we did, which is why I thought we would be foolish enough to sign it. Another legacy from Turnbull?
Scott Morrison is following in Donald Trump's footsteps by refusing to sign a non-binding migration agreement which Australia helped draft.
Australian officials have been heavily active in negotiating the wording of the UN Global Compact on Migrant over the past two years.
Different Governments, different policies. The Tories have long been Xenophobic - primarily as a means of robbing the Hansonites of support from wavers. The ALP OTOH, has dabbled with that as well, while the Nationals are just bastards.

Could be; I'm not sure. But I'm always amused to see the lefty interpretation of news events, particularly regarding several Western nations' withdrawal of support for the pact. Here we have a classic example:
What's interesting is that the supporters of the pact keep claiming it was non-binding and didn't really change anything ... yet they're up in arms about it being rejected by several major Western nations.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 9:51 amWell we did, which is why I thought we would be foolish enough to sign it. I was happy when he withdrew the United States from the U.N. Global Compact on Migration. Sovereign Western nations have no obligation to assimilate Third World migrants. If we do anything, we should help them in their own countries.
Of course, what that translated to was the the then Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnball, was very much in the thrall of the Dries in the Tories and couldn't dare to buck against their antediluvian views on Migration.![]()
Help them or helping ourselves to their stuff, Black Orchid? Australia, unlike the US actually has a good reputation in this regard. The US OTOH has a bad one. Just look at Central America, South America, Europe, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, etc...I also agree that we should be keeping them in their own countries and helping them there.![]()

Just ask native citizens of Sweden and Germany if their countries are better or worse since they threw their gates open to hundreds of thousands of Islamic refugees. For instance: https://www.thelocal.de/20161215/year-a ... ntegration
Hundreds of women that night described running a gauntlet of theft, groping and lewd insults in a crush of mainly Arab and north African men. Other German cities reported similar incidents during their end of year festivities.
Cologne police reports later revealed that of some 1,200 complaints filed about the incidents, over 500 were for sexual assault. Most of the perpetrators were never caught.
Gee, Angela, imagine that ... not every culture treats women as equals! Who knew?
Actually, 2 minutes on the internet would have told you that before you introduced this human virus into your country's bloodstream. And since they'll outbreed native Germans, I'd say your country's future is pretty much screwed.
That's the funniest thing I have read all weekFLEKTARN wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 8:58 amThe4thEstate wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 1:45 amIf by "bad reputation" you mean we don't transform ourselves from a sovereign nation into a Third World spillway, I'll take that as a compliment (although the Democrats would prefer open borders). Germany is not the USA. We integrate them here. We have different systems that actually work. We don't have violent crimes and 66 shootings a day like in the US. The German police shoots 2 people per year. The US police shoots 2,000 people biyearly.
