I see a bot as two purposes
1 to fish out of
2 to get me somewhere
Simply sitting on a boat for the purpose of sitting on a boat makes little sense to me.
I want to be somewhere and usually get tgere by plane
My travel is predominantly to places I want to see.
I love architecture, visit different parts of the world to see it.
My wife loves antiques
So we also travel to buy them
Most of my family however, cruise.
From what I gather, it's an exercise in getting drunk, eating and gambling.
Not my scene
I'm with you. I'd get effing bored in 3 seconds. To me they're just an RSL afloat
RSL eh?
8 Restaurants +Food halls
Gym
SWIMMING POOLS
Water slides
Rock Climbing
Child Care
Visiting ports with tours
Nightly different theater entertainment
Different Bands in different areas daily
Mmmm nice RSL you have Gordy!
8 Restaurants +Food halls -
Watch the waddle procession of fattys
Gym -

SWIMMING POOLS -
For a dip is OK, I need the ocean
Water slides -

Rock Climbing -
I prefer to hike up a mountain
Child Care -
I like doing stuff with my kids
Visiting ports with tours -
I'd prefer to stay there and look around properly
Nightly different theater entertainment -
Show tunes
Different Bands in different areas daily -
Abba tribute bands
No point talking to you obviously!
how old are your kids btw!
2 and 12. We're probably going to do some trekking in NZ in December., I just need to get fit enough to put the 2 year old in a carry pack for a whole day.
It's ok each to their own. My mum loves cruises

I've never been to Vanuatu. I hear it's nice, not as naff as Fiji and not as pricey as New Cal.
We spent a month in Fiji back in the late 70s. It was a "freebie" as husband had meetings with the Fijian PM and Co as they were negotiating installing a Hydroelectric power plant or something. We had a hire car and drove all around Fiji so saw the entire Island, staying at various places for a night or two. Our "holiday" was a week on Taveuni.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taveuni. Flew from Suva on a 6 seater plane with the windscreen wipers going!
While on Fiji they had a cyclone (scary) and mudslides, but we were lucky to have just "left" (via car) before they happened. The Indians in Suva were a PITA, I solved that by pretending that I "lived there" (tried not to look like a tourist) and since I had my little daughter with me, we were able to wander around the shops without too much hassle.
We had several "dinners" to attend, and so forth and their Chief Engineer at the time, was a Fijian and his wife was an American lady, so we were invited to their house for dinner one evening. Their children were adorable.
A memorable occasion.

I am ok on a catamaran but hopeless on a keel boat. Especially below deck. Knowing this I am too scared to go on a cruise. If we set off and then I go below deck to sleep and got vertigo and all sick and stuff I would be stuffed lol.
BTW trekking doesn't do it for me either

Even my husband used to get a bit sea sick, but my daughter was walking around yachts at about 2 and never complained. I recall she asked one Yacht owner, Bob (who worked with husband) ... "Mr Bob, do your know "Mary had a little lamb?" (the song) and Bob replied "I bet she was surprised."
Bob also told us that his wife wanted a swimming pool ... he won, got the yacht. Funny bloke.

On cruises again,
The one cruise I did that disappointed me was about 13 day one of New Zealand.
We didnt really see enough of the place despite lots of stops in ports!
I think I will do the all inclusive bus tour or drive myself campervan at some stage!
The other type I am going to do is a Mediterranean multi Ports one!

The Resort on Taveuni was owned by an American bloke, forgotten name. We did lots of walks around the island and also played golf! Also there was the "date line" ... one foot in yesterday/the other in today ... sort of stupidity. Nothing on the Island back then but the Resort and a few makeshift "houses". The Fijians are really nice people. Shame that the bloody Indians have infiltrated the place.

Caribbean and Alaska would be 2 cruises I MIGHT try one day
I have been to Fiji half a dozen times but way too many Indians there now. I won't be going back. Indians outnumber the natives (who are lovely) now.

Yeah I have thought of that Alaska cruise and Canada as a possibility some day!
