Living in a small town
Wonder if living/retiring in a small town would be better than in a big city ?

Depends if you need regular medical treatment.
If you are still able to drive competently.
If you are able to look after yourself and your House/Land
I like the vibe of a smaller town - Slow Down and Relax.
Depends on what you call a small town - 100 people- 1000 people - 10,000 people ?

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

The smaller the town the less anonymity/privacy you have.

Yes, everybody knows all about you, what you had for breakfast, how many times you visit the toilet, etcetera and if they don't actually "know", they will make it up.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 1:46 pmThe smaller the town the less anonymity/privacy you have.

Think one of the Aussie "soaps" set in a Country Town .... Gossip Central.sprintcyclist wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 4:01 pmWonder what the optimum size is for a town/city to live in .
I am ex-Victorian and only know the country towns down there. Great places to visit but I wouldn't want to live in any of them as I respect MY privacy and country folk don't seem to and especially as a new-comer, you would be the Talk of the Town.
I thought you were in Queensland? I don't know any country towns up that way but somebody here might be able to fill you in.
Good that you are thinking about retirement ... it's the best years of your life, provided your health remains stable.

yes, we have been seriously planning our retirement for about 4 years.
Wish I had started putting extra into my super earlier.
We are in no rush, considering i) Staying where we are.
ii) Buying a place in the Sunshine or Gold Coasts.
I still like working, so may as well continue to do that.
