I actually believe we should be helping people to come to Australia by restationing Migration Officers in the camps, so that Asylum Seekers can make applications there, rather than onshore here. That would short-circuit the entire people smugglers' raisons d'etre'. It would stop people risking their lives. We should also provide the means by which Refugees can become part of the Australian community, rather than systematically deny them all support.

not sure if you contribute in a great way to paying for our welfare system.. but a lot of folks do and because they do object doesn't mean they are racist or they feel persecuted ... or are even persecuting.......they are just voicing their opinion.... like I believe you claim you do.....

I pay my taxes, I therefore contribute to the welfare system and I am happy for people who are hard done by, who are less well up, to receive welfare payments.
