Getting "verbal" is one thing, getting "physical" is another. How can you consider/compare "verbal abuse" as bad as "physical abuse"?

Female calls man a "nasty word", man hits woman with his fist .... IF you are in that sort of relationship, it is probably best to leave NOW before somebody kills somebody!
I've been thinking a bit recently about emotional vs physical violence.

A bully has emerged at my daughters school and she's being victimising one girl just horribly. She's a very popular and a politically savy girl who acts as sweet as pie when she needs to but has been a little psyco to her victim.

The bully is a pint sized little runt.
Her victim is a bit tubby, but fit and physically capable and her whole family does martial arts.

To a few select parents whom I can speak candidly two, I said if it was my daughter who was the victim, after steps A,B,C,D,E have been tried to stop it, I'd tell her to use her tae kwon do skills and smash her in the face.

Some parents were horrified and others agreed. We discussed it for a bit and nearly all of the parents came around to the fact that one quick smack in the gob is nothing compared to months of emotional torture.

Opinions?
Ah, I'm reading backwards through the comments... you're not talking about a 30 year old but a primary school student.

Less dangerous but still intimidating with their SAME gang behavior....IT NEVER CHANGES: teach her the confidence to walk away or it will never end!
Stop making things worse! :pope

I reckon you have skipped a few lines in reading the dialogue ... use that imagination to Get a Job correcting people on the Interwebz or something. You could become a millionaire! :b

You probably need to talk to our lawyer pal about bullies. He reckons he has Big Hands and could pin any bully to a tree. Strong words for an elderly bloke. :rofl

Oh, and when I was at school there were bullies too and we just told them to f-off or ignored them completely. Telling tales to the Teacher was a No, No.

Why are kids so "intimidated" by other kids at school these days? Sticks and Stones and all that.

Much has changed since you, or I, were at school Nef. You should realise that.

Bullies come in all shapes and forms. Especially those with Big Hands!
The bully is a pint sized little runt.
Her victim is a bit tubby, but fit and physically capable and her whole family does martial arts.
As above. Fat kids always get picked on, as do red heads and kids with pimples and so forth. This is not a new phenomenon. It happened when I was at school.
To a few select parents whom I can speak candidly two, I said if it was my daughter who was the victim, after steps A,B,C,D,E have been tried to stop it, I'd tell her to use her tae kwon do skills and smash her in the face.
I have told a story before about my daughter when she was about 11 and I changed her school, so she was a "newbie". I saw bruises on her legs and asked about them. She told me that one girl at school "hated" her and kicked her when in the playground. I said "what does the Teacher say?" and she said "she only kicks me when the Teacher is not looking" so I said, "When the Teacher is not looking, kick her back". THAT solved that problem. The kid never kicked my daughter again and they actually got quite friendly ... at school.

My daughter, now with girls of her own, had a few problems when one of her girls in Primary School had another girl being a "bully" .... she approached the Mother (rather than the Teacher). The girls, who were supposedly "best friends" at the time, stopped being "best friends" and that was that.

Undoubtedly and probably sadly so. Should we blame the Internet?

In some ways, I think social media has a lot to answer for.

The little turd who bullied the girl at school messed up sent one bullying message in text.

Incredibly, the school thinks the sun shines out of her arse and nothing happened.

I doubt going to the parents of a bully satisfies anything. Generally bullies are bullies because of their home situation but have open slather on social media.

The Internet has been around for 2+ decades! I got connected to the Internet, at Home on my PC in 1995. Admittedly, it wasn't cheap. I think I was paying $5 an hour or something. At the time the Public Service in Canberra still didn't even have the Internet!

I think it is the anonymity of it all. People can get "angry" at strangers on the Net ... or Facebook or whatever the schoolkids use ... and they actually THINK that they can say anything and not have to face up to it. Juveniles (those under 18 and those above) seem to take their anger out on anonymous people. Hi Aussie and Monk. :hi2

Way back, when I first got the Internet (1995) I immediately found some Chat Rooms. I still write to some people I met there. The "rules" at the time were ... "Think about a Chat Room like walking into a Pub or unfamiliar gathering" ... you don't walk into a place and immediately yell "Who wants to fuck?" or "I hate you and will punch you on the nose" or whatever .... do you? Seems like some people do. :nah

I am not talking about the internet per se. I am talking about social media, as stated. Not internet forums/chat sites.
