I have fucking had it with Rudd's labor. So far their answer to everything has been to tax it.

Binge drinking? Tax it.
Carbon emissions? Tax it.
Inefficient cars? Tax it.

It doesn't work. It's doesn't work! Anyone can tell Rudd it doesn't work. Taxing alcopops just resulted in more kids drinking fucking Jager-bombs and champagne. Taxing luxury cars will result in nothing more than public servants and doctors in Tasmania demanding a cost of living pay rise. We need more imaginative solutions to problems than simply slapping on another tax. Labor is behaving as nothing more that their stereotype under Rudd. It's embarrassing. Smarten the fuck up Rudd or you'll be out on your ear as soon as the opposition can find a leader.

Why no outrage about the fact that there is already a luxury car tax of 25%. Shouldn't that be removed?
Why no outrage about the fact that wine had a new tax added to it to counter the effect of GST. The same effect that the GST had on reducing the price of premix drinks. Shouldn't that wine tax be removed?

I heard some figures the other day showing that tax as a percentage of GDP is lower this year than last year or any of the last 5 years, this at a time of "global economic tsunami" when we might need all the money in the bank we can get.

I think the luxury car tax is a good idea. Simple transport needs do not have to be met by a 57000 + vehicle.

Simple transport needs can be met by a good pair of shoes, a bicycle, or public transport. All cars are a luxury. And if removing the tax is going to blow a hole in the budget, well, they've fucked up big time, as the tax wasn't there in the first place, and it seems they've already banked on it.
Alco-pops? The dumb fucks can tax it all they like. They are lucky the teen generation is lazy, otherwise the young ones would be brewing their own, legally and completely tax free.

Carbon taxes do work. Drug taxes work to raise revenue, but not to reduce consumption - because they are drugs and consumptions is relatively inelastic.
