I have generous neighbours who welcomed me with some hardy succulents. The purple flower looking one in the whisky barrel was gifted to me only a few weeks ago. I was chuffed.

I love anything that smells nice.
Going to nursery today, might get some violets if they have some.
Found this link for winter flowers, there's a few on here I'm keen to try, might need a couple more whisky barrels.

Liriope will grow pretty much anywhere.....
For winter color, stay clear of pansies.........your friendly possum will devour them.
