You are doing a great job. Remember that each kid is different.

Hard Love has to be applied, just remember that her tiny tummy is about the size of HER fist, so don't worry if she will only pick at stuff. She will not starve, she will demand before that happens.

Let her eat what she feels like eating, when she feels like eating! Make sure there is a large Fruit Bowl available at little Toddler eye level.

It's only once she starts pre-school that she will need training to eat at regular hours. Just let her sort out her own tastes. MUCH easier on you.

Thanks Nef, I do worry when she only seems to pick some nights, but at least she's still on her toddler milk, (aptamil stage 4) so she's getting the nutrients she needs.

Fluid wise, She only drinks water and formula.

:Hi

Ps- If any of you have that magical toddler recipe feel free to put it up.

Her favourite meal is savoury mince served with pasta.

Great thread Nef.
It's appropriate for me at the moment as I'm trying to lose weight.
- Skip.

Likewise... I put on a few Kilos after bub, and am still trying to lose them.

And Skip... you are doing fine... just replace your milk with skim milk, your sugar with splenda (a good quality artificial sweetener) and your sour cream with either lite sour cream or preferably low-fat Greek style yoghurt.

You get used to it after a while.

It's about clever substitutions of the things you love.

Re- the hot cross bun.....hmmm... you might wanna give those a miss though because their nutrition to kilojoule and fat ratio is poor.

Meaning you could have had a whole wholemeal muffin cut into halves with low-fat ricotta cheese and tomato on top for less kilojoules but would have kept you fuller for longer.

And the lemon meringue cup-cake.... maaaw,... i'm so jealous of you right now. Does your wife do home delivery? :rofl

:Hi

Do you like salmon?

Mirandas Special Mince

500g of high grade beef mince
1 finely diced onion
2 medium carrots peeled then finely diced
3 stalks of celery finely diced
Half a medium sweet potato peeled and finely diced
A medium zucchini finely diced
3/4 cups of canned corn kernels
2 small or one medium parsnips (white carrots) finely diced

(by the way.... finely dice all veg about 1cm square)

2 long sprigs or 4 short-medium sprigs of rosemary rinsed then roughly chopped.

1 packet of continental rich beef savoury mince (has to be continental), or use their shepherd's pie meal base.

Method...

Brown mince well, then add some seasoning, optional.

(seasoning = about 20 grinds of black pepper, 10 of rock sea salt, and a good pinch of raw sugar)

Again...it's optional.... :thumb

Then add veg and chopped rosemary , and stir fry until veg has began to soften.

The rosemary, celery and parsnip is very important in this recipe. Gives it it's special flavour.

Sprinkle over continental meal base.... then add water and stir until desired consistency is achieved...(much more water than is suggested on the packet is required)... then pop a lid on and simmer gently while your pasta is cooking.

I use extra-large ribbed tubular pasta I purchase from our local fruit barn, but any large pasta will do.

When the pasta is cooked, add a dollop of butter/marg and some chopped parsley to the pasta....serve the savoury mince on top.

This recipe is a homely satisfying meal kids and adults love.

A great way of sneaking veggies into a meal without them realising.

:Hi

Tip- I dice my veg and add onion and rosemary + seasoning to the veg mix into a bowl and cover with cling film then pop it into the fridge when my tot goes down for her late morning nap (around 11am) so I can throw this meal together quickly of an evening.

Thanks Mel. I haven't tried any sugar supplements before.

Yep, salmon is really good for you. Omega 3 ...brain food!

Re- the sweetener... Splenda is expensive...but it's the best.

Does it taste close to real sugar?

I tried them all...except splenda, when a dietician advised I try splenda sweetener, and substitute my regular bread with soy linseed bread, and my butter/marg with olive grove spread.

Splenda is definitely the closest to the real thing you will ever taste... the next best thing is "Equal" sweetener.

If like me you are fussy...just pay the extra and go with Splenda.

The dietician also advised that I drink Gin and diet tonic water .... instead of sparking wine.

FAT CHANCE!!!

Actually, the truth is, I attended the dieticians appointment with my ex- the advice was intended for him.

But I took it upon board, as he had not the desire nor inclination to take the dieticians advice.

That was his choice.

I thought she was quite good....and gave some great advice.

She was big on the Splenda, soy linseed bread and olive grove spread.
