These are not the demands of organised terrorism. These are not the demands of a politically motivated man. This is just some crazy folk to has no idea what to do when the spotlight landed on him.

I mean this was a terrifying siege, no doubt. But let's be clear, this guy was no lashka e taiba. I'm glad he's dead and all, but let's not over react now.

Agreed, and as soon as he began making these odd demands, I knew he wasn't an organised terrorist, just an insane criminal.

Just some nutter acting out of desperation.

Theres a telling clue within his ABC national radio transcript where he accuses the Iranian government of taking his family hostage.
What I think he wanted in exchange for his pro-war anti Iranian propaganda on the ABC was for his family to be brought out to Australia.

Then on his website, and in court when he was facing sexual assault and murder charges, he accused our government and the Iranian government of conspiring together against him.

He was quite paranoid, and becoming increasingly radical and psychotic by the day, how he dropped off ASIOS watch list back in 2008 is a real mystery.

And how someone like this can be granted bail just leaves me gob-smacked.

A letter to Abbott (an others) Monis wrote back in 2013 that was linked to his now pulled website.

As a criminal, and a con-man, he was quite organised however.

Note how when he wrote this anti-war / pro-government propaga letter/proposition, ..... http://www.geenstijl.nl/archives/images ... abbott.pdf to abbott, he was in the midst of criminal proceedings.

I honestly think for whatever reason, he half expected Abbott to pull some strings, re- his criminal charges...why else would he mention it throughout the context of his anti-war letter?

His letter sounded more like a proposition than a activists qualm.

What I took from it was "Hey Abbott, if you pull some strings, perhaps I could drop my anti-war stance and begin supporting your government, just like the old days on ABC radio national, eh?"

It was subtle, but thats what I took from it.

Perhaps the last government was more obliging?

Mad-man -vrs- well organised conniving con artist blackmailing criminal?

He knew he was going to prison for a long time, so thought he'd give proposition/ blackmail one last crack!

Perhaps in his twisted little mind he took hostages in an attempt to secure negotiations (with Abbott) in his favour.

He wanted more than a flag and a phone call with Abbott, I think.

Was probably hoping that if he survived the siege, he could plead insanity and be remanded in a mental health care facility, this opposed to a regular prison.

No, I think it was all about him, and the charges he was facing.
He couldn't give a crap about the Muslim community, if anything, he's expressed an overwhelming lack of regard for them in disgracing them the way he has, his sudden alleged conversion to Sunni serves to reinforce this.

With respects to facebook likes... all 14,000 of them, people just read posts individual facebookers post and either like or dislike the content, not the individual as such.

Most of them were probably from overseas, and knew very little about this manipulative shape-shifting con artist.

Lets hope ASIO are following Sheikh Haron's twitter followers, some of them look a tad concerning to say the least.
