Now all we need to is manufacture it in aus.... or will be allow the profits to go to the US or China..... anyone want to bet on it.

I must really take note next time I see a "program interruption" on TV/Foxtel. Some guy (can't recall name but I think a Celeb) comes on and starts telling us that now that the Mining boom is on a downer, we Aussies should start INVENTING stuff. He is sorta right and Aussies have always been extremely adept at "inventing" things but ........... we need to manufacture these "inventions" and at least Patent it and stop selling our IDEAS off to the Yanks.

Will Tony Abbott do something, I wonder?

But Dr Karl is right.

Government is not serious about the long term because they always have to battle appeasing the masses in the short term.

I think it is time for some serious think on what future aussies want.

Also, it is not just governments problems. Some serious philanthropy is needed in investing in adding value and inventing by private enterprise. Government need to incentivise and reward this behaviour from those with serious money.

We have invented a lot more than that too.

Every day throughout the world over a billion people rely heavily on Australian inventions. Every time they drive a car, fly, prepare a meal, use a laptop or smartphone or spend some time in hospital there is a good chance they are relying on Australian inventions or discoveries. Then you ask people what Australia is famous for and the say “sport”. But fortunately that does not include you dear reader, because we know people visit the White Hat website because they are Intelligent and Informed.
