Australian Scientists

Post by Neferti » Mon Apr 13, 2015 7:18 am

Australian scientists designing a revolutionary condom that could 'feel better than nothing at all'

The design comes from scientists at the University of Wollongong
They won a US$100,000 grant for a next generation condom in 2013
It's made from a strong and flexible material called hydrogel
The groundbreaking design can offer functions like self-lubrication
The scientists will run biometric tests to maximise the pleasurability

Scientists from the University of Wollongong are designing ultra-durable condoms they claim could feel even better than nothing at all.

The contraceptive is made with hydrogel, a strong and flexible solid which can be made to feel and act like human tissue.

The groundbreaking design will eventually offer functions like self-lubrication, topical drug delivery, and even electric conductivity, dramatically changing the capacity of male contraception, reports Science Alert.

Another important contribution to humanity by aussies.

Now all we need to is manufacture it in aus.... or will be allow the profits to go to the US or China..... anyone want to bet on it.

I hope we at least have the patent and milk phallics across the world.... for money I mean.

I must really take note next time I see a "program interruption" on TV/Foxtel. Some guy (can't recall name but I think a Celeb) comes on and starts telling us that now that the Mining boom is on a downer, we Aussies should start INVENTING stuff. He is sorta right and Aussies have always been extremely adept at "inventing" things but ........... we need to manufacture these "inventions" and at least Patent it and stop selling our IDEAS off to the Yanks.

Will Tony Abbott do something, I wonder?

But Dr Karl is right.

Government is not serious about the long term because they always have to battle appeasing the masses in the short term.

I think it is time for some serious think on what future aussies want.

Also, it is not just governments problems. Some serious philanthropy is needed in investing in adding value and inventing by private enterprise. Government need to incentivise and reward this behaviour from those with serious money.

I did a quick search on aussie inventions.

We need to do better than this.

And we need to do better than this............ :rofl

We have invented a lot more than that too.
Every day throughout the world over a billion people rely heavily on Australian inventions. Every time they drive a car, fly, prepare a meal, use a laptop or smartphone or spend some time in hospital there is a good chance they are relying on Australian inventions or discoveries. Then you ask people what Australia is famous for and the say “sport”. But fortunately that does not include you dear reader, because we know people visit the White Hat website because they are Intelligent and Informed.

Hey the Victa lawn mowers get two jerseys in that pic.
My brother in law gets another special mention, two in one day, he was the manager of the reserve bank new notes department that sold our counterfeit bank notes technology to the rest of the world.

I saw this in the Canberra Times this morning. "Death of the Barcode".
Associate Professor Nemai Karmakar from Monash University has created a new generation of radio frequency identification (RFID) tags that, until now, could not work on products with metal or water.
Read all about it here:-

So we Aussies are still inventing stuff. :thumb

Wonder if that Aussie counterfeit bank notes technology is used in the States: use a $100 bill here and watch the clerk try to determine if the note is counterfeit or not.

Arn't American bills still paper?

We've been all plastic, with the clear window in them, for a while now.
