London 2012 Olympics: Saudi Arabia threaten to withdraw from Olympics over judo headscarf ban
Saudi Arabia have threatened to withdraw from the London 2012 Olympic Games unless female judo athlete Wujdan Shahrkhani is allowed to wear her headscarf in competition.

This is just bloody silly.
It is a shame this has to happened. The state of womens rights in Saudi are a bloody disgrace. They recently overturn a plan to allow women to drive. Studies show they are safer drivers.
They need to comply with the rules or go home. I cannot see wearing a headsarf as being an advantage but what happen if she uses it to slip out of a headlock or it's ripped off in a throw. Will it have to stop until she can put it on again. Will the images on TV need to black out her hair because the whole male world will get too excited.
She should not be allowed to wear it. They should take a stand and say no.

Re: Olympics 2012 - London
Democrats have seized upon Mitt Romney's trip abroad to London for the Olympics - dubbed Romneyshambles - with a new video highlighting criticism from British politicians and the media.
What a wanker. This guy is not an international statesman. You guys in the states, what do you make of this muppet?
Lewis, who is generally regarded as one of the greatest Olympians of all time - winning gold medals from 1984 to 1996, told The Independent newspaper as Michelle Obama arrived in London to lead the US delegation: "Every Olympics is ready, I don't care whatever he [Romney] said. I swear, sometimes I think some Americans shouldn't leave the country. Are you kidding me, stay home if you don't know what to say."

Can't see what a blue belt is doing in the Olympics anyway, except to be a pain in the ass about shit that has nothing to do with sport. I say let them withdraw if it's such a big deal.Super Nova wrote:She should not be allowed to wear it. They should take a stand and say no.

Germans now. Boys in blue girls in pink. German representative in crowd doing the hitler salute...at least it looked that way.
Anyone see the open show. Any views?
I thought it was pretty good. Representing the history of GB mostly. It grew on me as it went.
I liked the way the queen made her entrance
