Re: Religion
If this is so - why have the Jewish people been persecuted from their inception? Islam and Christianity have always been embraced more than Judaism and there has to be a good reason for this. Perhaps the Jews do believe in people power more than worshipping a God, but they have always had a problem with coveting and go to any lengths to achieve this.Super Nova wrote:

From this the other 2 great religions were built. Christianity and Islam.
Most of us have been indoctrinated from an early age into some kind of religion and regardless of whether you're an atheist, agnostic or believer - in the back of our minds there is always the thought that if we don't do the right thing - karma will bite us. Religion should be a moral indoctrination which penetrates your subconscious, but it's usually used for exploitation by so many organisations for the purpose of power, influence and financial gain. One day we need to grow out of it. Separation of state and religion was the first step in Europe and US.
The promise of eternal damnation is the only thing that can keep some people in check. The fear of the consequences that can not be delt in this life is probably a good thing. Without consequences or fear of them we tend to do what we want.

Do to answer the question why a study of history is required.mantra wrote:If this is so - why were the Jewish people persecuted from their inception before Christ? They were estbalished in a region ofthe world that was full of armies and conquests. They were enslaved a few times. They lost there land a few times. The Romans really gave them a hard time. They ended up stateless.
Islam and Chistianity have embraced more than Judism, all I'm saying they were built on Judism and both recognise the old testimate.
Their influence is clear and important.
When you have no homeland I guess you need to be more clever than the average bear to survive. That may explain why they are such good business men.
I have seen this in other countries. In Jakarta, the Chinese work harder and are smarter business men... they have more wealth and are hated.
In Fuji, the ex indian slave are harder works and smarter businessmen... they are hated.
The list goes on and on.
That does't mean they are bad... they just work the system to the point that they are disliked by those who have not.

I used to believe in Karma. I don't today. I have seen too many people prosper by deceit and lies in business. The liars get rich. The honest just become middleclass.

What is the next step? You can't seem to make up your mind about whether it is a good thing or a bad thing. One day we need to grow out of it. Separation of state and religion was the first step in Europe and US.

Judaism is a strong but not normally a proselytising religion. This above all else is what has lead to their peculiar history. It divides. If this is so - why have the Jewish people been persecuted from their inception? My position is:
- It's a bad thing today for me. We should evolve to a godless society based on the good things we learned that are now law.
- I can see why some people need it so it could be a good thing for them. I think we have evolved to need an explaination for everything. If religion was replaced by a substitute it would need to deal with the moral issues of life and how to deal with what they call "spiritual" needs of some individuals. I don't have the ansdwer for what that is. Maybe something life Budism that is about enlightenment rather than the worship of a god.
- It was a good thing considering it was the political heart of earlier societies that led to our advanced (if we can call it that) society today. I don't think we (the masses) would have a good quality of life today without it's part in our history.
I just had to check the word out:freediver wrote:Judaism is a strong but not normally a proselytising religion. This above all else is what has lead to their peculiar history. Proselytizing ( /ˈprɒsɨlɨtaɪzɨŋ/) is the act of attempting to convert people to another opinion and, particularly, another religion. The word proselytize is derived ultimately from the Greek language prefix προσ- (toward) and the verb ἔρχομαι (to come) in the form of προσήλυτος (a new comer).[1] Historically in the Koine Greek Septuagint and New Testament, the word proselyte denoted a gentile who was considering conversion to Judaism. Though the word proselytism originally referred to Early Christianity (and earlier Gentiles), it also refers to other religions' attempts to convert people to their beliefs or even any attempt to convert people to another point of view, religious or not.

If you are rich you could build a big needle.

How flat out ignorant are you people? I really hope you're trolling and not really as loud and uninformed as a fuckIng Queensland chippie.
Romney a Jew? Jews as some cave dwelling villain? Not understanding the difference between Judaism and the church of Jesus Christ of the latter day saints?
You people are unbelievably stupid. I can't believe they let you vote.
