No evidence of mermaids, says US government

Post by Super Nova » Wed Jul 04, 2012 3:26 am

How stupid are some americans?

"The programme was a work of fiction but its wink-and-nod format apparently led some viewers to believe it was a science education show, the Discovery Channel has acknowledged"

Fancy a Government Science agency having to even get involved..... ffs.

Check this out.
No evidence of mermaids, says US government Sorry folks, it's just a costume Continue reading the main story

There is no evidence that mermaids exist, a US government scientific agency has said.

The National Ocean Service made the unusual declaration in response to public inquiries following a TV show on the mythical creatures.

It is thought some viewers may have mistaken the programme for a documentary.

"No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found," the service wrote in an online post.

The National Ocean Service posted an article last week on its educational website, Ocean Facts.

Images and tales of mermaids - half-human, half-fish - appear in mythology and art from across the world and through history, from Homer's Odyssey to the oral lore of the Australian aboriginals, the service wrote.

The article was written from publicly available sources because "we don't have a mermaid science programme", National Ocean Service spokeswoman Carol Kavanagh told the BBC.

She said that at least two people had written to the agency asking about the creatures.

The inquiries followed May's broadcast of Mermaids: The Body Found, on the Discovery Channel's Animal Planet network.

The programme was a work of fiction but its wink-and-nod format apparently led some viewers to believe it was a science education show, the Discovery Channel has acknowledged.

U.S. TV is in a fine state, to say the least. Look at what the venerable National Geographic has done with their brand by broadcasting similar crap as the Discovery Channel that they are now indistinguishable.

Americans have been weaned on fantasy and bulldust as well as the fact that their education system is in very poor shape.

PBS educational tv is the only tv I have watched here in the US for many years. Just about everything else broadcasting here is a bunch of crap, in my opinion.

PBS is brilliant.

Just recorded and started watching the "Kindom of David" series. If you want to know where our current modern laws and values come from and the history of the jewish rekligion that formed the bases of nmost of the world religions worshiping one true god "tehe" this is brilliant.

The jews were the first in history to construct a god where the contract was more focused on how you treat your fellow man than how you worship the god itself. This message really comes across "the program is dedicated to the thesis that the Israelites and the Jewish faith changed human history "as much as any empire that ever existed."

Originally intended as a four-part miniseries, Kingdom of David: The Saga of the Israelites made its U.S. debut as a two-part PBS special on May 14 and 21, 2003. Narrated by Keith David, with character voices provided by an impressive lineup of prominent actors, the program is dedicated to the thesis that the Israelites and the Jewish faith changed human history "as much as any empire that ever existed." Persecuted and slaughtered for practicing monotheism at a time when the prevailing belief was in multiple gods, the Kingdom of David kept itself united and solvent by passing along the history and traditions of its elders in written form (the "religion of the book"). Among the subjects explored are the formation of the laws of the Jews, the origins of their customs, and their strongly held and strictly enforced moral values. Individual episode titles include "By the Rivers of Babylon," "The Book and the Sword," "The End of Days," and "The Gifts of the Jews." As often as possible, Kingdom of David was filmed on the exact locations where the historical events described herein occurred.

Yes they are smart. They successfully introduced usury, excessive consumerism and extreme capitalism into a moderate civilisation.

Are you sure that they did that.

Commerce and a capitalist society (ok based on slaves) was around well before that. The roman's introduced coins. Trade was happening always.

I don't buy into that Mantra. Can you explain the rationale for this opinion?

The Jews were expelled from Europe in the 13th century because they introduced conspiracy banking and they didn't get a decent foothold again in western civilisation until the 1970's when the Trilateral Commission was founded. That's fine - they worked hard to get to this point in their history and there are few alternatives offered to counter their influence.

They have always had control of our mass media - written and visual, fantasy and fiction.

Full blown conspiracy theory nonsense by Mantra.

If Jews were expelled from Europe in and I quote the 13th century where did Hitler find 6m Jews to murder? I myself, born in Europe, have Jewish ancestry, about 1/16th or 1/32nd.

You just write shit, don’t you?
