...and boy did it get hammered which just shows the level of her popularity. The twittesphere is normally inhabited by left leaning goobers with more time than intelligence on their hands

I agree that trying to create a twitter trend with #cashforyou is the biggest gaffe to date. It is idiotic and nauseating. When I first saw this I actually wondered if the PM's twitter account had been hacked by a young liberal who was having a laugh, until Ellis, Butler and Bradbury join in the circle jerk.

I suspect this is the moment when Julia finally jumped the shark, even for those dyed-in-the-wool Labor true believers. Once again I ask, how did the party of Paul J Keating turn into this?

Some people who used to comment on blogs now spend most of their time on Twitter—you reach a much wider audience there.

I think we could really try and move back from too partisan a view of politics, back from obsession about personalities. Just compare today to the time Menzies heard of Chifley’s death:
