If you've been continually going to a GP for help or a cure for a non-life threatening ailment and they haven't been able to help then try elsewhere. Sometimes a long term problem can be treated and cured fairly easily by someone else with the right answer.
Do not dismiss alternative remedies as a scam. The ineptness of doctors shocks me sometimes - maybe because they've forgotten things they've learnt or they haven't kept up to date with cures for modern diseases.
True Mantra, but I have witnessed the outcome of some careless, irresponsible homoeopaths also, ie, "Dont listen to your doctor, take this remedy instead" so I think whilst it may be effective in treating some minor ailments, in a 'complimentary' fashion, a degree of caution and common sense needs to be exercised.
Responsible homoeopaths are the first to admit that more serious complaints should be treated by a physician.
I will just add, a friend of mine is a responsible homoeopath this and provided me with some fantastic relaxation techniques, (for child-birth) a number of years ago, even if her herbal remedy for pregnancy-related heartburn failed, it's not to say it didn't/wont work for others I guess.
Read this heart breaking letter written by a now deceased Australian cancer sufferer who intended on suing her homoeopath before she deceased.

Clearly, this homoeopath just told her dying patient exactly what she wanted to hear, instilling a false sense of hope.
She should have told her the truth, not exploited her financially before she passed away feeling financially used and helpless.
So as you can see, not all homoeopaths are honest and responsible.
And naturally, this homoeopath cannot be sued for 'medical' negligence, given she can rightfully argue in her defence that the treatment she recommend/advised was not in fact "medical' in the strictest 'orthodox' sense, rather was a complimentary therapy the patient took upon her own advice, not that of the surviving homoeopaths, who's word is now against hers, when naturally, dead people cant defend themselves, nor have their day in court.
Patient loses, homoeopath $wins$ ---The end~!
