The Pineapple Party has two problems. One is The Borg.

The other is that it has two constituencies: the bush, conservative, formerly Joh voting. They would love to be able to clear fell bush again. The other constituency is the urban, affluent, educated, environmentally aware Liberals.

Borg is not that bright: he plays to his base, the former Joh voters who would vote him if he came and personally killed every firstborn in the bush! No, dopy! One Nation is gone (even tho Hanson is standing, apparently) so your base will support you. You need to woo the urban Liberals in Brisbane. Talk about land clearing, rave against the CPRS etc and you are alienating that urban coinbstituency who are environmentally aware as I said and want the CPRS to be introduced and can pay the increase in costs it will bring--they are affluent!

Labor have the problem of long incumbency and not terribly brilliant health delivery.

An aftereffect from Joh is low tax rates which means the govt has to borrow to build infrastructure etc and the Qld credit rating has just been downgraded from AAA to AA+ by Standard & Poor and in QT the Lieberals brought that up. No sensible person would care, S&P have lost all credibilty by rating BBB loans as AAA CDOs.

Another thing, lots of people have been moving to SEQld from other parts of Australia and that has to help Labor. Betting agencies have the Pineapple Party at $2.50 and Labor at $1.50.

I can't see the Borg winning, 8% and 22 seats is a big ask.

If Anna does win she will be the first woman elected as Premier in Australia--Kirner & Lawrence were defeated at general elections.

The city/bush progressive/reactionary split runs through the Liberal Party federally as well.

LNP MP Stuart Copeland will run as an Independent against colleague Ray Hopper in the seat of Condamine after losing his own seat when boundaries were re-drawn.

Apparently Barnaby will be campaigning actively for the Pineapple Party! Shd be worth 3 seats to the ALP at least!
