The most unsettling aspect of Flannery's spruiking is the impact it has on homes near the sea. It wasn't until recently that I fully understood why the prices of homes in my area have been so slow to move. It's because the local council is convinced the area's sea level is rising to such an extent that within 20 years we'll be under water. This has had a domino effect of fear to prospective purchasers. Insurance has skyrocketed to accommodate the pronouncements of these weather clairvoyants. In actual fact - the sea level has dropped by a couple of centimetres.

When Flannery came out with advice that we should abate global warming by terraforming the planet with photochemical smog I knew he was an idiot boffin pretending to be expert on something he apparently doesn't fully comprehend.

I can understand why some would expect mass flooding withing a couple of decades. I did some calculations back in about 2005 and came up with a potential figure of a 97 metre sea level rise withing a couple of decades, rather than the 50cm within a century figure more commonly presented.
Y'see I knew the melt rate would be exponential, so be far more rapid that old computer model predictions, and the various melts were calculated in isolation. So I added all potential above sea level melt water and got 97 metres, so said 80 metres to be conservative.
Then checked topographical maps to see how far sea water would intrude into freshwater creeks ect, trying to guage sea water intrusion into freshwater aquifers ect.

Make no mistake, the ocean is rising, Tuvalu, Kirabati, and some PNG islands are already going under.
The reason the sea level on OZ East coast has dropped is because it always is in relation to the land. Y'see the East coast of OZ is rising, and the other end of our techtonic plate, which has India on it, is sinking, Yes India is sinking.
Tuvalu and Kirabati could be on sinking plates but I doubt PNG islands are.

Whacko conspiratorial theorising or not, I reckon some of the world's elites are well aware of our near future and is why they built the 'Doomsday seed vault' 130 metres above sea level on an arctic island {shouldn't be impacted much by Isotropic quakes when land in polar regions rises/moves up when weight from ice is removed}.

As far as the impact of global warming in my area, well it's getting wetter, so currently no complaints. I'm aware the impacts of global warming are genuine, but for me, at the moment they're beneficial.

It sounds like a see saw, but continents aren't supposed to sink - so maybe the Indians will be safe. They can collide though, so if India is moving at 2 cm per year, perhaps we're on a collision course with them.

We could drag a million potential disasters out of a hat and they might never happen, but instead bodies of so called experts are preparing us for just one disaster. The carbon tax is gambling of the most speculative degree. The fact that we're going to trade in carbon credits globally in 3 years is proof that the world leaders want another source of revenue to gamble with. Carbon credit trading has been proven to be unsuccessful, but the chips have been down since the GFC, so they need more cash to feed their addiction.

If you are so sure of yourself, buy some seaside property on low lying land at a discount price and don't bother insuring it. The insurance companies mustn't have bothered checking the facts.
