Santorum's razor thin lead in Ohio just became a razor thin lead to Romeny. If Romney takes Ohio I think that finally seals the deal on the GOP nomination.

Today is Super Tuesday and I was accosted at the gas station this morning not by a campaign worker but by a pamphlet-wielding Jehovah's Witness.

What a disappointing anti-climax. Romney squeaked out a win in 6 of the 10 states, including the very hotly contested Ohio (though, like Iowa, it may still be delivered to Rick when the counting and recounting is complete..). Rick failed to deliver a game changer like his 3 state sweep last month, and the door is not yet closed. The only real surprise was that Romney won over Alaska. That's Palin and Paul country. Perhaps they wanted to vote for socially conservative Rick, but the memory of the bridge to nowhere was still too clear in their minds and they couldn't bring themselves to do it.

Georgia once again reminded the rest of the country why they are derided as the laughing stock of the south by backing that smug fuck Newt Gingrich, leaving Santorum with 2 victories, both in very red, very socially conservative states of Oklahoma and Tennessee. Oh and North Dakota (no one actually lives in North Dakota).

Romney is now the inevitable winner, and has demonstrated he can win support in both major swing battleground states of Ohio and Florida, and can point to victories in a range of progressive, centrist and conservative states from Massachusetts to Michigan (Virginia doesn't count, since he was the only one on the ballot there). He has more than twice the delegates of Santorum, more than all the others combined.

Nevertheless we march toward a brokered convention. Ron Paul wants this because if Romney or Santorum need his delegates, then they will have to listen and nod while he sets the conservative libertarian agenda. Newt wants this because, well because he's a fluffy bunny.
