Don’t change what is in a supposed direct quote Mattus or you are no more than IQ and his agrarian rants.

It was more truthful than the original

Yeah. Maybe Rob Mitchell can be CEO of BHP.freediver wrote:I wouldn't go that far. Most would get a raise. These people are the best in the country at what they do and the skills are easily transferable to many parts of the private sector.
Backbenchers are scared of losing their seats, and will support the person most likely to deliver an election victory. Winning is all that matters in politics. It is everything.

About 2/3 of both parties are lawyers who could make more money in private enterprise than they make as backbencher or Cabinet Minister or even as PM.

The thing is, Rudd doesn't even need to win this ballot to achieve what he has set out to. Unless Julia storms home with 90% of the vote, this issue is not over. On the other hand, if the caucus vote shows Jules does not have the backing of a third of her own party, well, she'll need more than positive thinking and chemo to survive to October.Mattus wrote: Backbenchers are scared of losing their seats, and will support the person most likely to deliver an election victory. Zappia - back to working in a fitness centre when he loses his seat.
Wyatt - primary school teacher
Windsor - Broke ass farmer
Wilkie - Broke ass writer, ex soldier
Washer - Country GP
Vamvakinou - Highschool teacher
Van Mannan - Bank teller
Vasta - Business development manager
Truss - broke ass farmer
Tehan - Farm hand.
Symon - Sparky
Snowdon - Teacher
Jesus fuck I'm tired of this game already, but not one of these people would attract a $141k base salary (well maybe the TAFE graduate Symon... ) and another hundred k or more in electorate / travel benefits. Not everyone on the back bench is Mal fucking Turnbull.

Woops, October NEXT year.Jovial Monk wrote:The election is not till Oct last year—unless Rudd is elected PM. Which he won’t be, thankfully.
Rudd couldn’t get the ETS passed. Despite running a minority govt Gillard did!
Or April this year if Rudd stands and defeats Gillard.
I guess he felt he had to do it now, before a healthy surplus was brought down in May. Also, the ACCC has all the info and the rewritten draft of the Telstra document and the NBN gets rolled out big time—in a few months the polling would be very different and Rudd couldn’t pose as savior.

LOLInternal polling showed that the mandate was an illusion because the population got informed...
They got in because they won the election.Green in the HOR only got in on lib preferences
That would not make a very impressive CV, unless you also put MP on it. Then it would be impressive.Mattus wrote:Myth!Jovial Monk wrote:About 2/3 of both parties are lawyers who could make more money in private enterprise than they make as backbencher or Cabinet Minister or even as PM.

The country GP could probably go back to his old line of work and make more money. The rest would have to get new jobs. The ex teachers would easily get a better paying job in the education department.
Perhaps instead of proving your point with more wild speculation, you could simply look at the countless cases where this has happened before. It is not like it's hard to find.
