If you mean Mel - tell her we miss her. Her holiday should be over by now and she needs to hurry up and come back here.

Yes - let her out please Bart. I'm having visions of her being skeletal, sick and ghostly looking.

I saw an Italian movie the other day - "I'm not scared" about a group of peasants who had kidnapped this little boy and were keeping him shackled in a hole in the ground. An innocent child had discovered him, but could do little to help him apart from giving him a bit of food, water and company. My first impression before I knew why the boy was there - was horror, because you hear stories all the time about children who are kept all their lives in cupboards, dungeons or chook pens etc. There could be nothing more cruel than depriving someone of sunlight, communication and adequate sustenance.

Ok, I'll let her out...if she lets me in ;)

But don't worry, I'm sure she will be " 'round" :thumb

Was that on World Movies?
Sounds like a good movie, as long as it's not viewed as being factual.

There's some disturbing movies around like The Stoning of Soraya M, and there was another where the family matriach (Grandmother) condoned the killing of her granddaughter who fell in love with an outsider. And not just any type of killing, forcing her to run across the road in heavy traffic late at night until she eventually gets skittled, looks anything but a murder.

It was an excellent movie. It may not have been a true story per se, but it was factual based on similar occurrences during a period called Years of Lead (anni di piombo) in the 70's where a neo-fascist Italian Social Movement attempted to integrate themselves into the Italian goverment. During this period terrorism and kidnapping were rampant.

I watch quite a few of the SBS one and two foreign movies. They leave many of the western movies for dead. I prefer the German, Danish, French, Italian and Brazilian films over the others. Many of them are disturbing, but perhaps that's their appeal.

Good to see you back Mel. Of course you're welcome here - always, and yes - Bart has been very well behaved in your absence.
