Yes Tom, we soldiers (past or present) pay a high price for putting our personal security on the line, for choosing the freedom and welfare of others over our own personal well-being, and some times the violence insurgents like those in Iraq is so violent that it destroys some people's ability to go on, that is what these type of insurgents attempt to do, kill so grossly and randomly that no one will go on. So they run everything.

Fortunately most democratic soldiers do go on, and civilization survives.
