It seems that the leftys and their biased media have their tits in a twist over Gina Rhineharts play for Fairfax spouting their indignation across the blogosphere and the ABC at the ignominy of having 'their' media bought by someone who they see as a conservative (and successful)

The Age and the SMH journos must be quaking in their boots and wishing that the devil himself, Rupert would come to their rescue and stifle her bid. Of course they would prefer a lefty to stump up the moola but trying to find a successful lefty would be impossible

Now we have the typical talk from the left about media ownership cropping up because they disagree with the owner

So is this a political raid or a corporate one from a shrewd business woman buying in at the bottom of the market, implement some change to appeal to the majority giving a return on investment over time ie diversification?

I think everyone would agree that the newspaper industry as a whole is dying, but comparing pre-GFC stock prices to today and suggesting a liberal bias is to blame is rather a misleading argument. Even ultra conservative News Ltd has shed nearly double the amount fairfax lost in share price since the heady heights of 2008.

In my view this isn't a money making venture. Gina's no shrewd entrepreneur anyway, she's an heiress, she inherited the lot. This is just payback for the carbon tax, striking at the heart of Labor.

You see news ltd now moving to an online pay system where as Fairfax seem to have rejected this outright.

Obviously the news media need to adopt a different model to adapt to a changing world. News ltd seem to be doing that. What do Fairfax intend to do other than die a slow death?

Obviously appealing to a wider audience is out. Maybe they are hoping that free entry to their website and pay per click advertising will keep them all happy and jolly while perpetuating their ideology?
