How do you know it is a puppet government and just a pretense at democracy?
According to Afghan, Iranian, and Turkish government sources, Hamid Karzai, the interim Prime Minister of Afghanistan, was a top adviser to the El Segundo, California-based UNOCAL Corporation which was negotiating with the Taliban to construct a Central Asia Gas (CentGas) pipeline from Turkmenistan through western Afghanistan to Pakistan.

and the Bush Oil Team

I was going to mention UNOCAL but hadn't got as far as linking Karzai to them. What a joke.

There's the answer to your question FD.

So because he was gainfully employed it proves that Afghanistan's democracy is fake?

Even Bush had links to the oil industry, but he still got elected.

Same difference. They obviously both had good lobbyists.

So America doesn't have genuine democracy either?

Seems like it.

There is a better form of democracy, where you kill all your opponents, and anyone who turns up to vote for their replacements.

Western democracy is inferior in so many ways!

On an occasion I was bagging the actions of Amerikans, a friend who lives in NY state, but seems to spend half his time in Florida, Nicaragua or Panama, said:
America is a democracy in name only
..
and I have to admit he's right, U$A is a plutocracy.
The Prez elections are clear proof of that.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

By tampered with/rigged electronic voting machines and a Supreme Court judge buddy of Bush senior, not the registered voters of U$A.

A little bit of perspective might go a long way here.

Do you dispute the historical record of Bush junior being appointed by Bush senior's Supreme court buddy?

I am not disputing the facts, only your interpretation of them.

Who is really to blame for Bush junior getting elected? Was it the 50% of American voters who voted for him? Or was it the judge who tipped the balance in his favour? To focus on the judge and all the technical issues in a very close race rather than the voters is to hide from the reality of modern politics and democracy. This is not to say there are no technical and procedural problems, but it is equally absurd to conclude that there is no democracy.
