More Global Warming CRAP

Post by Bart » Thu Jan 12, 2012 1:35 pm

It's January, Australia's summer, it's meant to be hot well warm at the very least, yet somehow we have areas within Victoria getting snow showers. Guess that it can no longer rain as the Chief Climate Commissioner Tim Flannery guaranteed that there will be no more dam filling rains, so next best is snow.
Maybe global warming is just a big snow job, at least I hope that that white stuff is snow!

More likely this is Mother Nature proving that Global Warming is CRAP.
If it is warming then why is it snowing! :yahoo :yahoo

"VICTORIANS endured one of the wackiest days of summer weather, blasted by once-in-a-decade conditions.

Cyclone-force wind lashed Melbourne, with gusts of up to 122km/h recorded at St Kilda.

The cold snap greeted city workers with pelting rain before patches of sunshine broke through.

The temperature fluctuated all day, dropping to 12.5C about noon before reaching 19C at 5.30pm, the city's coldest January day in three years.

In some suburbs, the mercury plummeted 6C in just eight minutes.

Temperatures below zero were recorded in the alps, where 4cm of snow fell at Mt Hotham and Mt Baw Baw.

In the Mallee, the temperature reached 25C.

Weatherzone senior meteorologist Alex Zadnik said a southwesterly airstream between a high over the Great Australian Bight and a low east of Tasmania dragged cold air from the Southern Ocean across Victoria.

"This kind of cold blast we see more years than not during December," Mr Zadnik said.

"Once or twice a decade you get it this far into January.
Temperatures will climb at the weekend and Melbourne is set for 31C on Monday.

Weather bureau senior forecaster Terry Ryan said bayside areas bore the brunt of the wind gusts, including Frankston where it reached 95km/h.

The SES received 750 calls for help statewide, with most between Sorrento and Moorabbin.

In Dingley Village, a nine-year-old boy avoided disaster because he was washing dishes.

He was helping his father when a neighbour's 30m gum tree fell and crushed a trampoline where he usually plays.

Melbourne is expecting isolated showers and a top of 21C today."

And they get all shy when the mercury hits 45

Statistics is about averages, not individual event... but thanks for coming.

Stats are about averages, but world-changing events are 'black swans'...pure unexpected chance events.

But yeah, global warming is a longitudinal event and ignores outlier temps.
