It's pronounced Sid'n'i...with tight syllables.

This opposed to Ush-tray-ian, (Melbourne translation)

Or Ustraaaaayuuun (South Australian aka Gillard)

The moral to the story is, despite us all being Australian, we have a number of different dialects.

Interesting site.

You should have asked me. I was born in Melbourne, lived in Sydney for years and now live in Canberra .......

It is Can-brah. Definitely not Can-ber-rah. Oh, and I say CaR-sil (Castle), raRscal (rascal), daRnce (dance), praRnce(prance) sault (sawlt ?) for salt, dawg for dog. I was always picked up for saying Mozman instead of MosS-man (Mosman) when I lived in Sydney. I've been picked out many times for being a "Mexican". Oh, and what you guys in Sydney call Spinach is actually Silverbeet ..... well it used to be. ;)
