I am not saying I agree with it.

But in Texas one’s property is inviolate.

To break into some one’s home is considered as bad as attacking them. You just don’t do it without risking serious consequences, every Texan knows it. (Except maybe those in Austin.)

Perhaps it is a hold over from the old west, when loss of a horse could mean financial disaster, even death, or loss of cattle ruin, but Texans is different.

The rules are clear, the consequences quick and straightforward, unfortunately these two criminals did not seem to do their homework when they moved there to steal and break the law.

Thats how it should be here..hey?

Yeah, morality is universal. I'll try this analogy....

In Texas, paedophilia is now legal.

I say it is morally wrong.

That is, according to my sense of morality.

Anyone disagree?

Just as I say that shooting another in the back as they run away from a non lethal, but illegal act, is immoral.

That is, according to my sense of morality.

Anyone disagree?

Morality would always value human life beyond mere property, and way beyond some rednecks need to get off using his Texan gun in a cowardly act of pseudo Clint Eastwood Hollywood bravado.

Thank god the legality of a mans actions are not decided on a measure of someones morality...If it was up to me, alot of people on the internet should either be locked up or preferably electrocuted through their keyboards.

Being the legal genius that you are- you would have also known that the police had just arrived and witnessed the perps approaching the man as he threatened to fire- he was obviously scared for his life.

Aussie, it's obviously not universal. There is no universal age limit for consensual sex for example. Even in Australia it is legal under certain circumstances. Pedophilia is one of those values that are strongly associated with wealth. We protect the innocence of childhood for so long because we can afford to, not because of some absolute moral imperative.

Obviously most Texans consider it moral to shoot a thief.

Can you give a link please IQ?

From the original article...and there are others that I can't be bothered looking for again, but from what I have read is that the officers testimony was crucial to his acquittal.
The operator repeatedly told Mr. Horn not to shoot, and the police had just arrived at the scene when Mr. Horn fired three blasts of 00 buckshot from his 12-gauge, striking the men in their backs.
Of course, Aussie can argue that the Texan police were complicit in crimes against his morality

If the shooter was black he'd be locked up..if the crim was white ,most likely wouldnt have been shot.

Where does it say that the cops 'witnessed the perps approaching the man as he threatened to fire'?

Read it and weep boxy...

...

“I’m not going to let them get away with it,” he told the emergency operator. “I’m going to shoot.” He added, “I’m going to kill them.”

...

three blasts of 00 buckshot from his 12-gauge, striking the men in their backs.

...

... Deadly force can also be used to protect property when “the other is fleeing immediately after committing burglary.”
Well, good for the grand jury, the lawful decision was reached.

Fuck Texas Law. Barbarians.
