The austerity programme in the UK looks to go on the another 7 years.
Bloody labor in the UK really has stuffed things up. Over spent in the good times, leaving nothing for the bad.
Europe has a week to sort the euro.
US dollars are being provided to banks on a special push.
Us is in deep shit.
Where will this go from here. What is your prediction?
Meanwhile, the GALP are giving away OUR money to "help" Greece, Pakistan and various others .... all borrowed money, natch since the GALP has spent us, too, into huge debt. Gillard and Co should be made to donate some of the recent rise that they gave themselves ... Gillard gets $70K a year increase a LOT more than some "working families" have to live on .... Gillard now earns more than Obama, apparently!
Australia is following all the other countries that are going broke ..... Lefty Governments cannot control themselves and their spending. Anyone with half a brain knows you have to save for a rainy day. Socialist Governments want to spend OUR money to make them look "generous" but those pollies aren't spending any of their money ... the are very comfortable, thank you, with their noses firmly in the trough! It doesn't end there either.... these useless people retire on more than any normal person could imagine .... all MPs get this benefit. If you have the gift of the gab and think selling used cars (or AVON) isn't your style, go for being an MP. You will be set for life. Honestly, no wonder everyone hates and loathes pollies.
Back in 2007/08 Rudd said that to counter the supposed GFC Australia had to spend and spend and spend.
To encourage that spending Rudd gave out freebie....

I mean stimuLIES packages.
Not only did that increase our debt it didn't encourgae spending at all. Most was used to pay off existing personal debt.
SO now with the pending GFC Mk2 whats the ALP solution?
Well instead of spending spending spending they have done a 180 and applied what they should have done in 2007/08 cut spending!!! The Liberal policy!
Nice to see that Gillard is acknowledging that Rudd is a complete idiot (and Swan but that goes without saying) with monetary (and fiscal) policies, but also acknowledging that the Liberals know how to address any economic situation especially potential recessionary periods.

Didn't the Liberals supported the idiotic stimulus packages?

Not to the extent of what the ALP did, it was suggested that they would offer half at most. But that was seen as an appeasement to the Rudd "I want to buy your votes" policy.
And the Libs also applied a cut in spending policy.

LOL... they were going to spend a little less... and cut spending?
They didn't make a peep. Big business fucked the economy with it's over spending. Govt bailed them out, and tried to encourage us to consume even more useless shit, to "stimulate the economy".
Good on Australians for paying out some of their own debt with the cash, doing what neither party had the balls to do.

Europe is not going to solve it's problems.
Single euro currency dies.
World shock.
3 year depression in west.
10 year impact before things normalise.
Opportunity for China to buy the west.
China implements the US' strategy better than the US and control's most of the worlds companies, therefore take the power.

There was a huge hoo haa way back about what the US hands out to their farmers. You'd have to google to get the gist of it. Mantra might recall what I am talking about and can no doubt explain it better than I could. AiA will undoubtedly reply when he gets time. Meanwhile, if you are really curious, try google.
Yes, most of these policies dated back to the FDR New Deal. Nixon "deregulated" a number of agricultural commodities including corn which led to the proliferation of cheap corn-fed beef and high fructose corn syrup. (These current policies favor corporations, not farmers.) Actually, cheap corn by-products are in most every processed food in America, from bread to ice-cream. That is why I buy grain-fed beef and pastured eggs from a local farmer and eat very little processed food.
No, there won't be any rioting in the USA over food, a corn-fed country full of corn-fed fatties who are now unemployed.

Yes - all roads lead back to China. Perhaps this is why the Americans are deploying thousands of troops to Darwin in preparation for another distracting war, but under the guise of keeping an eye on China. They'll be hiding behind our skirts. The usual doctrine is that we'll be a whole lot safer with the yanks here, but I'm not so sure about that. China apparently has some secretly trained army consisting of tens of millions of soldiers. They also have a cache of nuclear warheads that make the West's arsenal pale into insignificance.

Yet the US has such a massive debt - so how can the Americans afford to eat so well especially as unemployment is so high? The gluttony is mind boggling.

It is cheaper to eat fast food than cook at home because the fast food is all corn by-product.
