That aside, what about the health benefits .... Australian kids are fast measuring up to becoming like American kids, the fattest in the world, so what are the health benefits of introducing shooting as a school sport?

Index finger exerciser?

And what do the gun-loathing Greens have to say about the party they preferenced (Labor) introducing red-neck policy for preferences, or did they do the same, so cant say much at all without looking like hypocrites?

The silence is deafening form the greens on this issue, could hear a bloody pin drop!

So... Labor investigated the possibility of it being introduced... last fucking year, and they're no longer in power, and Liberals, who are in power, say that it's not going to happen...

... and you're surprised that the Greens arn't complaining about the situation?

You're a moron, Mel.

No, the greens didn't have anything to say about it at the time Labor were in state gov Is what i'm getting at.

But don't you find it strange how the Greens were so anti-gun lobby, yet this seems to have escaped their attention in the lead-up to the 2010 federal election whereby their preferences were as good as any I guess, lol...Gillard would have taken them from the Australian Axe-murderers party if she thought it would meet her objective.

The woman is morally bankrupt, she lies through her forked tongue on a daily basis.

Look, ethics might not be something you value, but theres still quite a lot of us here in Australia who do value these qualities in each other and ourselves...this and expect our government to serve the people not themselves.

GALP have strayed from their party's core-values, now they aren't even trying to disguise this fact, because they know theres simply no point.

Bob Brown is a hypocrite, end of story.

And again, you are yet to point out the health benefits of introducing shooting as a sport in NSW schools.

Can you?

There is no health benefit to calculus either. Or chess. Or computer studies. Shock, horror. Not all education policy is driven by health issues. Life skills. Firearms training is one of them. Just not a politically correct one, at the moment, and not needed by many. Otherwise this would be a non-issue... well, even more of a non-issue than it is to everyone now... except you, for some reason.

Would you play tennis during maths class?

Sport is compulsory in NSW schools.

I think it might be wise if you refer to this...

http://kids.nsw.gov.au/uploads/document ... tionplan.p

http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/publicheal ... mi_kid.asp

In excess of 20% of Australian school students are obese, and what was that about healthy canteen policy and compulsory sport participation in all NSW government schools?

"No hat no play"

Ok, die of a heart attack, and become a diabetic type 2 by age 21, but what ever you do, don't forget to put your hat on before you go out into the play-ground as you might get a freckle.

Again, this government needs to practice what it preaches.

In fact, this government needs more practice full stop.

Ps,
There is no health benefit to calculus either

Your analogy is piss week, worse than piss-weak in fact.

Did you go to a special school, on board a special bus?

It does seem to give public schools an unfair disadvantage over their wealthy peers in private schools - but the less people interested in shooting, the better.

In my childhood most boys had air guns and many of them were irresponsible. Perhaps if they were taught responsible shooting at school - it might be helpful, but there will always be some who will abuse this knowledge because they're dysfunctional.

I don't think shooting is the answer. FD mentioned archery. That isn't so dangerous and would help eye and hand co-ordination.

For some reason none of the kids from my age group signed up for archery. It was me and ten or so students from the year above. They spent the whole time winding me up. They even did it while we were at the range shooting. I remember thinking 'how stupid are these guys'?

They were the retards who didn't make the football team...lacked both brawn and brains so thought they may try out for this instead.

Why the hell did you 'enlist' you shit me sometimes FD, but I don't think you are entirely simple.

Was it the last elective sport left?

Archery isn't bad, but perhaps it could form part of a course of a variety of interesting activities.

They should get inventive and figure out a smart-kids sport, I enjoyed orienteering for sport at school, for the first couple of weeks, then it got a bit boring... but they could have made it more interesting, with outdoor codes, cryptics, something like "National Treasure" where you work as a team, and do somewhere different each time, go somewhere unusual, not the school oval every Wednesday ... Symbolism, group challenges, the use of modern and ancient technology to find the object, or clue...or complete a task then progress to the next clue, challenge, .... Honestly, must school sports be so flipping dull?

Think of the exercise, ... no wonder nerds sit in libraries or the chess room, ... all it would take is for a teacher with a sense of adventure, when all half of them want to do is supervise or bark from the sidelines...usually in the shade under a tree, while kids do push-ups in 40 degree heat in the middle of the oval.
