Whats middle age?

Post by mellie » Wed Oct 26, 2011 12:42 pm

If I were to pick an age bracket (I'm 35 )...I would say 40 to 60...then again, in a few years time, I may wish to bump this up to 45... lol.

I haven't really given it much thought until today, when Mantra mentioned Capper and him being a middle aged flasher at the ripe old age of 37/38, which is how old he would have been when he worked at ATS.

I think it's generally subjective, comes down to individual perception, expectations and ideals, coupled with other factors ie race, culture and longevity.

The Oxford English Dictionary states middle-age is the period between early adulthood and old age, usually considered as the years from about 45 to 65.

Would make for an interesting survey... re age and perception.

I don't think anyone has lived to be 130, so calling people middle aged at 65 is out of the question. People live until mid/late 90's, so 45 is reasonable. I tend to agree with Mantra that 38/40 is middle aged .... isn't the average life span in Australia about 78 for males and 82 for females?

Why I think 40, is because once you have turned 40, it's recommend expecting mothers have amniocentesis, except for women residing in Victoria, where it's advised they sort testing at 37..possibly because they have enough people with their heads sewn on backwards down there as it is, (probably the same for Tasmanians) that or there might be other environmental factors which might lead to increased risks, ie, pollution, re- burning dirty brown coal.

So, this said .... I'm inclined to agree with Mantra, middle earth..(I mean age) occurs at 40 for woman in NSW and 37 for woman living in Victoria.

:clap

I know this sounds sexist, so to even things up, whilst men can father children well into their 90's, the quality of their sperm deteriorates, and as can be expected, potentially their offspring's IQ with it.

Studies conclude the genetic quality of sperm deteriorates after 40... why this is not emphasised and remains a little known truth would make for fantastic table talk at one of Gillards EMILY-List dinner parties.

This is indeed the way of it, thus man and his sperm are not immortal, nor are woman and her ovum.

I had an amniocentesis procedure and I was in my early 20's. I spent 6 weeks in hospital prior to having a Caesar because the Specialist noticed that I had lost a pound (half a kilo) instead of gaining. He had me admitted that night. Can't remember the term but the "placenta broke down" and the baby was not getting fed.

How many men do you know who can get it up at 90? :rofl They can still talk about it though. Some 40-60 year olds have trouble. It is a known fact that males skite about their sexual ability.

Well put both of you... and like they say, you are as old/young as you feel, which renders me elderly after having spent the week lifting and moving boxes with muscles I thought lost their capacity to function long long ago.

:shocked

It's your back you have to consider. At your age you should be able to do whatever ...... fuck your back up and you are a cripple for the rest of your life. Females weren't designed to do a man's physical job.

I'm ok, no injuries, just strained muscles in my upper arms from having lifted one too many boxes.

No back problems, or other age-related signs of antiquity.... It's been 9 years since I moved.. ..out of practice I guess.

:)

Pfffft,,,who am I kidding.... I'M IN FUCKING AGONY...WHERES An ONLINE DRUG DEALER WHEN YOU NEED ONE!!!!!!!!!

ANYONE GOT CAPPERS NUMBER?

-Joking.. but the Indian paracetamol isn't helping... no, I didn't buy it, I asked my boarder if he had any panadol in his truck, and he produced Aldi generic Indian panadol (Hedanol) instead.

They should have called it Pana-dhal....because I swear to you, I think it's made from powdered then compressed lentils.

Laugh about it now Mellie. In 10 years time you will realise that doing what you did is stupid. Males have bodies designed to Lift Stuff. You have a son who is well designed to Lift Stuff and not pull his back muscles. Where was he while you were doing ALL the hard yakka?
