My point, IQ, is that he is no god, he was a self interested fluffy bunny, who provided a range of consumer products, at quite a mark up, that entertained the proles for a few years... no more, no less.

At quite a mark up? Oh, I wouldn't say that. When you look at the markup for hardware from a teardown without taking into account the firmware or software, then Your markup is starting to look quite thin.

Don't get me wrong, Jobs was no guru god and i wouldnt have a mac if you paid me, but he was a very smart man who recognized a market niche (in phones and tablets) when he saw and managed to differentiate his products when they performed the same basic functions as competitors

So we're agreed then... he was talented at marketing, and was richly rewarded for his skill.

He wont be missed.

Here's where we do disagree. Not only will he be missed from Apples perspective, particularly from a design and innovation perspective but there are not too many entrepreneurs in the world like him that can turn a loss making company into a world leader...this is not a trait that should be disparaged or forgotten.

It is one that should be encouraged

He increased the average consumers... happiness (um, no)... standard of living (umm, no)... productivity (ummmm, no)... consumption (yeah, that's it!!!!).

Leg end!

Yet the comparisons with Thomas Edison and Henry Ford abound ...

Seems he wasn't the peaceful vegetarian Buddhist he made himself out to be. Hitler was a vegetarian too. How is that for a comparison?
