Why not say what you are on about in simple language? When you start dismissing people as being too stupid to understand your brilliance what sort of a response do you expect? And it is clear your statement is meaningless so say so and move on.

You started it Monk.Jovial Monk wrote:Why not say what you are on about in simple language? When you start dismissing people as being too stupid to understand your brilliance what sort of a response do you expect? And it is clear your statement is meaningless so say so and move on.
Instead of telling me about MMT in your own simple language, you merely pointed me to links on your forum about MMT which use the English language in comparable ways to myself and then started providing nonsensical responses such as 'Good eh'. How is what you have done conducive to discussion on this very interesting concept MMT?
You keep saying that I have not addressed the issue of the fiat being pegged to labour costs without actually explaining what you mean by that. An honest poster would have quoted my comments that do discuss that matter and then point out what is not being explained. But not you and not Leftwinger.
It's frustrating and most unwelcoming. And now as a new member I am questioning whether I am actually wanted about these parts but instead of answering that question you use it as a further attempt to score points for yourself!
If this is your way of saying: Fuck off Prick. I will go. But be direct about it. No more bullshit. Am I welcome or not?
Re: How shoudl the Us handle its debt?
Like I said, start again. Maybe I too tried playing the smart prick, who never does that in their life?
But I mentioned MMT then shot off for a few hours and got your response that I was supposed to summarise MMT in 100 words or so. yeah, right.

Call me insane... but I'd rather make the govt justifying taxing me, than to give them a blank cheque to just spend on whatever they deem necessary without having to get the money from anywhere.

If I was asked to summarize the links as they pertain to this thread, I would have done it. Leftwinger had no issue doing it, so why should you?Monk wrote:But I mentioned MMT then shot off for a few hours and got your response that I was supposed to summarise MMT in 100 words or so. yeah, right.
So all my discussion to date on MMT is now not valid? I must start again? I don't want to start again. I put a lot of thought and time into my discussion. I acted in good faith and it is unfair to ask me to start again.Like I said, start again.
I'd rather walk away from this topic. All has been proven pointless in here. I wasted my time.
I would never treat a new member in the way you have treated me. I do not like these games at the worst of times. I'm here to share my learnings and learn from others. I don't care for being a prick or engaging a prick. I don't mind a bit of heated debate, but that is not what is going on here.Maybe I too tried playing the smart prick, who never does that in their life?

You played the game as much as anyone. Now you want to be treated as a new member. Said new member called me stupid. When I said start again I meant leave all these attitudes at home and start fresh in a more collaborative spirit.

Well then, we need to show our renewed good faith and return to this matter of the fiat currency being pegged to unskilled labour costs (sometimes referred to labour costs, in my discussions). Could you quote my discussions which pertain to this and then ask me questions about it or explain what it is that you think I have not addressed, or what it is that you do not understand?Jovial Monk wrote:You played the game as much as anyone. You are welcome here by me and also welcome to answer our questions. Going away is the easy way out when you realise that you've tripped up.Am I not welcome here? Would you rather I go away?
Do you accept that the US government is fully sovereign in it's own non-convertable, floating fiat currency and as such, is operationally capable of spending as many of those dollars as it sees fit, at any time, on anything and everything that is offered for sale in $USD, irrespective of what political or ideological constraints may be in play - or do you dispute this fact? If so, tell us why. Describe in lay terms your understanding of how it works. What will prevent them from electronically crediting bank accounts? Are all the computer keyboard operators in the US on strike? Note that I am not asking you to describe how you would like it to work, but how it actually does function.
And in simple terms, exactly what do you mean by fiat currency being pegged to unskilled labour costs? Are you referring in any way to the concept of a job gaurantee, set at the minimum wage and conditions allowable by law, as forwarded by most MMT proponents? Are you opposed to the existence of a minimum wage? Until you see fit to explain yourself, I don't know what you mean - but I would like to know.

Deficit Talks Scaled Back Over Tax Increases
Citing differences over tax revenues, House Speaker John A. Boehner on Saturday night said he would drop his push with President Obama for a far-reaching, $4 trillion deficit-reduction plan tied to a proposal to increase the federal debt limit.
On the eve of a second round of high-level bipartisan talks set for Sunday, Mr. Boehner issued a statement saying he would now urge negotiators to instead focus on trying to craft a smaller package more in line with the $2 trillion in cuts negotiated by Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.
