Amendment to Aussie’s amendment to the constitution

Post by Jovial Monk » Fri May 06, 2011 2:19 pm

Aussie moved this shifty, self serving amendment whose main purpose is to entrench himself:
A petition can be used to trigger an election for the position of exalted leader or to trigger a referendum. A petition will be deemed successful if the number of signatories meets or exceeds the magic number. The magic number is calculated as follows: take the number of valid votes from the last election, divide by two, round up if necessary (by adding 0.5), then subtract the number of people who submitted a valid vote in that election who are currently unable to sign due to the actions of the admin (eg if they are banned or suspended). The signature of a banned member is not counted if the magic number has already been reduced on their account. All petitions remain active for one calendar month after they have been initiated. No new Petition substantially on the same grounds as one that has lapsed may be initiated until three months have passed since the said lapse.”
Since we are not considering Petitions to boot the Admin (yet) and since Petitions with some support deserve to stay alive I amend Aussie’s sly amendment to read:
A petition can be used to trigger an election for the position of exalted leader or to trigger a referendum. A petition will be deemed successful if the number of signatories meets or exceeds the magic number. The magic number is calculated as follows: take the number of valid votes from the last election, divide by two, round up if necessary (by adding 0.5), then subtract the number of people who submitted a valid vote in that election who are currently unable to sign due to the actions of the admin (eg if they are banned or suspended). The signature of a banned member is not counted if the magic number has already been reduced on their account. All petitions other than a Petition to remove an Admin remain active for three calendar months after they have been initiated unless said Petition has received three votes or more.”
(Note: Aussie’s last sentence of his Petition has been removed—a Petition with a reasonable amount of support should be able to last longer.

I support such an amendment and I call all who voted for Aussie’s amendment to rescind their vote and vote for this amended version.

I call on Aussie to stop playing slimy games and actually be an Admin and delete, consign to the flames the flippant, frivolous, vexatious and totally groundless Petition about a non-existent Annie/Monk. FFS, games only go on for so long!

Monk, I'll treat this Post of yours as a Petition, and if it gets the required support....the magic number.....then it will be put to a referendum.

Please read the current Constitution, drafted by freediver, and enacted after last year's election. It is in the 'Archives.'

Only Admin. can initiate a Referendum about changeing the Constitution without the need for there to be a successful Petition first.

Hog wash, sorry Monk we need to be transparent and that seems to be long winded.
Will the Board survive under this Admin? Yes

It is shorterwinded than Aussie’s self serving amendment.

this amendment is the way to go, not that any amendment is needed to delete invalid Petitions. I don’t see why Aussie doesn’t support it.

Nothing self serving Monk. All we have is your stupid paranoid hysteria.

Have you read the current Constitution yet?

Easiest thing to do is just delete that groundless, frivolous, vexatious and invalid Petition. There certainly is no need to give an unpopular Admin more power to defy the will of the members.

So, delete the Annie/Mod invalid Petition and we can get on with other improvements that are sorely needed.

Your amendment WOULD make it easy for you to defy the members and once a Petition has been up for a month delete it then prevent another Petition to oust you from being posted, right Aussie?

What does that have to do with deleting an invalid Petition tho? Can you enlighten me?

All my amendment does is add a sunshine clause to Petitions. I can’t see why it can’t be accepted.

Monk, I could do what you demand with the push of a button. But, I will not. There is a Constitution I am obliged to regard, and I will.

Until the current document is amended, my hands are tied by it. I have offered the Board a stop-gap measure with the Amendment I have proposed, and you are the stupid paranoid dick head who wants to stand in the way of providing me with the Constitutional capacity to do what you demand.

....and btw....give over with the 'we.' There is but just the singular, and loud......you.

The correct expression is 'sunset,' dickhead.

The Annie/Monk Petition is not valid. There is no Annie/Monk and you did not appoint an Annie/Monk.

Why are you being so pigheaded over what is so trivial?

But if an amendment is needed to the constitution mine achieves putting a subset clause on Petitions and it does no more than that. Yours would allow an Admin to delete an unsuccessful Petition to unseat that Admin after 30 days, then allows that Admin to prevent further such Petitions being raised. What does that have to do with putting a sunset clause on other Petitions?

You do admit that your amendment puts much more power in the hands of Admins?

Nothing is 'trivial' when it comes down to doing the job of Admin under the terms of the present (absurd) Constitution. I am bound by it, and it's absurdities, you idiot. I do not get to ignore it on grounds of triviality....even though I'd like to.

My proposed amendment is only interim....to achieve the outcome YOU have been demanding of me.

Dickhead.
