For you....why should Admin not be elected on FPTP, given this is an election for Admin on a www Board, and not for the Government of Australia?

Because preferential voting is more democratic. FPTP makes it more likely that the minorty will have their way in a manner opposed by the majority.

For example.........three candidates for Admin here. No allegiances, no affiliations among any, unlike the way it is in Politics. Why should not the person who gets the most votes win?

Because the admin role should go to the person with majority support. You get the spoiler effect without allegiances. Allegiances would tend to reduce it. Boxy had more votes than you in the final runoff.

To use the recent election...........I almost had a clear majority by about a flea's dick, and I did not run on a joint ticket. Boxy and AiA did. I had (almost) more (by the aforesaid flea's dick) than their combined vote. That is....just one candidate almost out polled a combination of the rest.

I seem to recall PA has always ad preferential voting aussie- don't you recall it that way? I think for admin I prefer preferential voting. Mods i think could also be voted on preferentially. I think they could also be appointed by admin but the appointments should ideally be balanced in terms of the side of politics they mod comes from.

I have been in 3 (well, 2 because Aussie fucking banned me while I was suspended) elections and they were all in the superior preferential system of counting votes.

FPTP OFTEN means a candidate is elected with way less than 50% of he vote.

Aussie must see advantage to himself or he wouldn’t be fiddling with this.

His amendment is solely about entrenching himself as Admin and must be spurned with the contempt it and Aussie deserve!

Regardless of outcomes, I favour FPTP for simplicity.

I can imagine all sorts of reasons/rationales for and against preferential voting on grounds of fair play, and could do the same for proportional voting, reputed to be fairest of all, but makes counting more complicated again.

I'm not going to argue for or against any proposed vote counting method offered, just say what I favour and why.
